I bought a Lenovo laptop on ebay 2 months ago, shipped from US to Australia, that is now not working properly. Lenovo confirmed that the issue would be covered under the US warranty, but that there is no international warranty, and so will not provide any assistance. Any recommendations?

For warranties to be valid the seller must be an Australian registered and authorised seller/reseller of the device, so no you will not be covered by any so-called "warranty".
Edit. I see you are registered in Singapore, so the warranty policies may be different there.

Lenovo have already confirmed what other members will tell you, so afraid not

Noting, the original listing claimed that the laptop was covered under the manufacturers warranty.

Read my reply to you regarding warranty enforcement. The seller can say anything they want to in a listing, but that doesn't make it true...................

It does not change the accurate information you have been given
It was bought from overseas
There is zero warranty in Australia
Regardless of what words were/were not used, nor anything else
The seller 'claiming ' does not change anything
It simply does not exist, never has and as such will not/cannot be enforced

The other thing that concerns me about this Sandy is that the US works on 120 volts AC and Australia is on 240 volts AC.
I know that some devices will automatically switch themselves to the correct voltage, but many do not.
Perhaps that's why the laptop isn't working properly.

If lenovo do not sell the specific laptop you purchased from america, or an equivalent model in Australia, then it will not be covered by a manufacturers warranty in Australia.
As lenovo have told you the item is not covered for warranty in Australia, it would appear the item was never intended for sale in Australia.

Thanks all for your replies. Appreciated. I thought I'd provide an update.
I made the purchase in Australia from ebay.com.au. The laptop was advertised as having a 1 year manufacturer warranty and available for shipment to Australia, which I interpreted as meaning the laptop had a warranty in Australia. My intention was to extend the warranty for another couple years.
However, I checked the international warranty for this machine using the serial number, and can see that it is not covered under and international warranty and that the warranty can not be extended to Australia.
My understanding is that, irrespective of the warranty, the purchase is covered under Australia Consumer Protection law. I understand that the consumer protection would cover the laptop issue, and also, the mixup about the warranty.
I am separately following up with Lenovo and eBay.
Any thoughts?
