Choose and Change (New Game)

Let's try this new game... 🙂

You have a word and have to write a sentence with an antonym of this word (it must not be a perfect antonym/opposite). The sentence must contain at least three other words (not including articles, pronouns etc.)

The next poster then chooses a word from the sentence of the previous poster (not the antonym, any other word) and builds a new sentence with the antonym of the word he or she has chosen.

For example:

START - She finished her delicious meal in no time.

The antonym of "start" is "finish/finished", so the next poster has to choose between "delicious", "meal" and "time" (the antonym can't be used) and has to write a sentence with the antonym of the chosen word and with at least three other nouns.

EXPECTED - The were totally surprised when they found out that the famous actor would be filming in the area surrounding their little country town.

FAMOUS - There was a serial killer in the small hampshire in Dorset, but no one ever knew that the murders were actually murders, and no one ever exhumed the bodies... and the serial killer was unknown, unappreciated, and unrecognised as the secretly vicious psychopath that he was; he was a victim of his own success, really.

VICTIM - The young child was afraid to report the abuse, especially as the perpetrator had threatened to hurt his family if he said anything to anyone.

YOUNG - It had been years since the decrepit monarch had consumed more than a bowl of gruel, a mashed banana and a glass of malt scotch.

MONARCH - Servants were rarely treated fairly in Victorian times and had basically no rights.

TREATED - The fellow used untreated pine for his retaining walls, a decision that was vociferously decried by his two sons and three daughters as they insisted that the timber would rot and need replacing in about ten years’ time.

WALLS - When he was unable to sleep, he just stared at the ceiling and imagined himself on a magic boat that could travel around the world spreading good cheer and sunshine wherever it went.

SLEEP - She wriggled with excitement at the thought of sneaking out of bed to have a midnight feast with the other girls in the dormitory, all of whom were determined to stay awake and join the festivities of chocolates, jellies, raspberry soda and as much gingerbread as they could stuff into their little mouths.

MIDNIGHT - It was their usual routine to meet up with each other at midday every Friday, so they could discuss their weekend plans with each other, and make any alterations required ahead of time.

ROUTINE - Tired of his boring life and senseless routine every day, he suddenly changed his name, jumped on a train and started a totally unconventional life in the middle of nowhere, finally free from the lies of his previous life.
