I found a listing for a Maxda CX-5 at the following address: REMOVED
It is listed at $5000 and only travelled around 78000kms. I sent a message to email REMOVED and got a response from a Samantha Kelly claiming to be in the Australian Air Force selling the car she was awarded in a divorce settlement. She said she is being deployed and selling car to give money to her mother who is going to be looking after her kids.
She says she has a deal with ebay where they'll ship the car to me for 5 day trial and she won't get the money until I'm satisfied with the car at the end of the 5 days at which point ebay will release to her the money I have paid.
Is this a scam? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As you have seen in all the above replies, you would know by know that Yes this is a scam.
eBay do not, nor ever have held money in escrow for ANY sale be it on eBay or elsewhere.

I had the same scam for a Mazda 3. Please read the emails from the scammer. Hopefully this will help prevent anyone from being fooled...
Hello,
Well let me just jump right into it. I just got divorced and the Mazda was awarded to me in our divorce. I have a low price ($6,500) because I want to sell it before April 12th ideally.
I have a deployment coming up and would prefer to have my mother who is taking care of my children, have the cash instead.
Now, a few words about this 2016 Mazda CX-3 sTouring. Comes with registration and a full RWC in perfect working condition, with nothing mechanically wrong - like new! This Mazda has 29,350 kilometers on the clock.
Never involved in any accident. No scratch to the paint, no sign of rust. Transmission type: Automatic.
Owned by non-smoking family with no pets, has just been fully detailed interior and exterior including steam clean.
If you decide to buy it, you'll receive all the papers, owner manual, keys, a buy-sell contract already signed by me and the clear title. Rego till 07 September 2021
Let me know if you have any questions.

Then this email
Hi again, as I've told you in my first e-mail, I'm in the Air Force with my medical team and right now I am on a military base. We are training, getting ready for leaving the country.
Before leaving I had prearranged the deal with eBay I chose to hire them to take care of the whole selling process as I cannot leave the military base. The delivery process will be managed by me.
I think I can have it there at your home address within 1-2 working days. You will have 5 days to test and inspect the Mazda, prior to making any purchase. During that 5 days testing period I will not be getting any money.
Only when you give the confirmation to eBay that you are satisfied by the Mazda and wanna keep it, they will release the funds to me, otherwise, they will refund you the full amount of money without any question, and you can ship the Mazda back on my expense.I need to know if you are interested so I can ask eBay to send you the details on this deal. If interested please include in your next email your contact info for eBay (full name, shipping address and phone number), so I can notify eBay that you are selected as my possible buyer and they will contact you to explain the entire procedure.
Warmest regards,
Ruby
The car is already at the company ( Darwin,NT ) sealed and ready to be shipped at your location! If interested please include in your next email your contact info for eBay (full name, shipping address and phone number), so I can notify eBay that you are selected as my buyer and they will contact you to explain the entire procedure.Thank you
And finally
I have briefly described the eBay transaction steps below:
1. Buyer, seller reach an agreement (price and delivery conditions)
2. Buyer sends money to eBay.
3. eBay confirms to the seller that the amount has been received.
4. Seller performs the required services (shipping-delivery).
5. Buyer accepts delivery and informs eBay about the acceptance.
6. eBay releases the money to sellers.
The money is going to eBay, into an non-interest bearing trust account and it will be secured until you will receive and test the car. After this, all you have to do is inform eBay that you want to keep the car and ,only then eBay will release the funds to me.
As you can see, you will receive the car (with all the papers including the clear title) BEFORE any money is released to me. You will get the chance to inspect and test drive it for 5 days while your money is still safely held in eBay's account. ONLY after you confirm to eBay that you agree with the car they will release the money to me.
If, for some reason, you disagree with the vehicle (I assure you that is NOT going to happen since my car is in IMMACULATE condition) it will be shipped back to me on MY EXPENSE and eBay will give you a full refund right away.
If you want to start the transaction with eBay just reply here with your full name, delivery address and phone number then eBay will contact you by e-mail with an invoice and explain better the whole process.
Don't fall for this scam and don't hand over any money or details. If it seems too good to be true it probably is...

Not a wonder he divorced her. 😂

You can hope all you like.
The scammers rely on lowest common IQ. Those who buy are there, those who don't have a few brain cells to rub together. It is a numbers game. As all payments are free and clear, it doesn't take many to make it a profitable exercise.
They are looking for mugs.
First indicator - mugs who think buying vehicles online is a viable option.
Second indicator - mugs who actually enquire about buying a vehicle online.
Third indicator - JACKPOT - a mug.
If you're buying a vehicle, buy from somebody who will allow you to inspect the vehicle. That would rule out people in Darwin, Perth or Hobart if you aren't close. And those confined to military bases, who have been working up for a deployment for many months

I have just had exactly the same thing for a 2007 Toyota Hilux from Sgt Hanna Yehudith Brook. Exactly the same wording. I have reported to Scamwatch

What is your question?
If it's confirming there is one born every day you would be spot on.
Whilst posting on this thread would presumably be a warning, those that don't read eBay boards wouldn't get the warning.
And the ones who's greed overwhelms their (lack of) sense will doubtless never read the boards.

She is now doing the same with a hyndai i30 selling it for $7,000
