Pimps (pimp my ride lol), why not suggest to the owner (boss) to get the tank emptied, refill it with the proper fuel, and just hope for the best?

Try nitrous oxide next time OP.
😛
Hawk that link also indicates I'm up a rather unpleasant creek without a paddle.
Matt, how much petrol did you have mixed in the diesel?
on 14-04-2013 04:21 PM
Hi Joz, i should have drained it straight away 😐
Someone has taken the vehicle away, i suspect to sydney so it will probably do a thousand K before it gets back (if it's still running) I just hope he keeps the thing as full as possible

Sorry for your predicament, Pimpy.
And is it a bad thing if I just heard Marvin the Martian say "there will be an earth shattering ka-boom"?
on 14-04-2013 04:31 PM
Willy if you just heard Marvin the martian then it means
a) the antipsychotic drugs have worn off
b) the gold tops have just kicked in
or
c) I am in deep deep doo-doo
either way, yep it's a bad thing

X fingers they didnt take it for a long trip Pimps
back in the early days when unleaded was introduced, motorist would fill their cars with it by mistake instead of super and if the valve stem seals in the heads werent designed to take it. it done lots of damage. It depended on the make of car.
lets hope this small percentage fuel you put in didnt hurt it.. as it might depend on the model diesel engine (goes back to read colics posts)

its a 2008 hilux 2wd. common rail which is the important bit.
I don't know whether to swear or cry or both 😞
I rang the boss earlier today to see if the vehicle was still operational. He hasn't heard anything to the contrary and was remarkably calm considering we (I) could be looking at 10 grands worth of damage. I've suggested he trade it in if it makes it back alive.
Hawks link was scary. it said the pump will break down and put bits of metal through the fuel system and stuff the injectors. Oh Joy 😐

perhaps in the event of this kind of damage his company vehicles are covered by his motor vehicles insurance policies? i so, i wouldnt sweat it.
