Problem with buyer saying item not received

I  new to eBay and am learning as I go, no problems until now (a few hiccups w/notifications) anyways here's the situation: I sent item to buyer and 2wks later received a msg saying not received yet. after a week of back and forth and me making two trips to the post office to enquire and being told there's delays due to covid they have now launched a buyer request thing anyways in one of the msgs she mentioned the local post office she uses and the name of the postman. Ive just talked to this person and after describing my envelope ( ordinary envelope no tracking or signature required which is my mistake) he recalled very specifically giving this package to the recipient plus a description of its contents (packing material) so I know it's been delivered. I'm wondering what should I do next do I tell the buyer that there mailman remembers giving it to them or do I contact eBay and give them this information?

Yes, it is strange. AusPost hardly ever lets people talk to the actual postie or parcel contractor. Usually, THEY talk to them when a case is opened, for example when a tracked item is marked as delivered, but the receiver claims it has not been delivered.

Not to mention that they usually don't even bother to ask if an item is untracked.

Domino - are you talking about these ones? According to Aus Post website, postage is still in additional cost. It offers Proof of Postage, Signature on Delivery, but no Tracking?

I get a handful of these from the PO - which accompany the parcel to post.

Fill in the Lodgement Receipt - part of the Pre Paid Registered Sticker goes top left hand corner

PO stamps it middle right - bring it home - enter tracking from label top left.

This envelope was opened in front of the mailman bcoz buyer was unaware of who sent it. She had no idea who it was from and was very confused about it apparently. She also has said in other msg's that all the other gold and silver she ordered has turned up so why hasn't the package from me.

Who does that - my mailman certainly doesn't have the time to stick around while I scrutinize for sender & open my mail.

If an envelope it would be deposited in the letterbox - I'm not sure I'm up with this. ??

@domino - there's also the cost of the bag itself.

OP - nobody opens their mail in front of the postie. These guys are only at the mailbox for 3 seconds while they drop in the post. Highly unlikely the buyer would even be talking to the guy, let alone go through the mail and then open it in front of them? This story doesn't hold water for a minute.

At the end of the day, buyer is fishing for a refund, no matter what backstory the PO, the mailman and the buyer are putting on it. They want their money back and there's nothing you can do if they open a case.
