seller postage quote is to cover ebay seller fees and packaging my purchases from me?

Can a seller charge excess postage to justify time taken to pack my goods ( not fragile as such) and to help cover ebay fees I have never come across it until now and I don’t think that is fair at all

Have you ever bought something with “free” postage?

If so, did you hurry to pay the seller the amount it cost him to post your item to you? Of course not… 

The seller can set the postage as they wish. Including handling charges (which may be anything related to the postage component that isn’t the face value of postage) is completely legitimate. If sellers didn’t cover the costs of selling, they wouldn’t sell.

If you don’t want to pay the amount charged, that doesn’t mean the postage is excessive. Buy or don’t buy … That is your choice.

Another not helpful comment. Sellers offering free postage usually have factored the cost of postage into their asking price. Nothing to do with my request for help today which is asking is it an allowable thing to justify charging for ebay fees and excess well above the actual true cost

Sorry that people are'nt telling you what you want to hear. Have you looked up the postage charges for the combined weight of the items/suitabke packaging too prevent damage etc etc etc? you have already been given answers in regard to the rest. Your opinion of $25 is likely to be way short of real world costs

You cannot know all of the costs involved - period. As you’ve seen, the responders here are telling you that the seller can set the postage charge as he wishes. I realise you won’t find this “helpful” because it doesn’t agree with your feeling about postage, but I can only offer you information that is valid and true to the best of my knowledge.
