difference in postage cost - ebay vs actual

I sold a cd to the US.

Buyer paid $15.85 (as suggested by ebay) but actual postage at Australia Post was $23.72

Anyone know why?

Moral of story.

Don't take all of eBay's advice.

I sell most including postage but if ever

I list a postage charge separately it's always

AP charge + 10%

On another account I charge Cost + 10%

and I get a few whingers but I don't think

they are in the habit of thinking.
