paypal reversed payment

My husband sold an item via his  user id , bondjack

I listed it on his beahalf - we are learning together.

I  got the payment to my paypal as  I used my  email address... Buyer sent payment through to paypal, husband sent item.

That should be the end?

But

Paypal opened a dispute  and then after reviewing the details has reversed the payment?

So ...

Buyer gets item for free?

I am so lost as to what happened...I cannot explain to my hubby what we ...I...he...did wrong?

Only a very small amount of money so the money we are out is not the issue... it's the  ummm

HuH???? what the ??? God knows what we did factor that is the issue

So any help ladies and gents?

if you need me to provide further details ,  in order to help me

I will .....

This sounds like it may be a Paypal Instigated investigation.

These usually happen when a buyer is paying out of their bank account and have a credit card as back up on file.

As there is a credit card on file Paypal process it as an instant payment (and not an echeque payment) but when Paypal attempt to withdraw the funds from the bank account there are insufficient funds and the credit card may be invalid or maxed out.

Paypal then put a hold on the payment and if they are unable to receive the funds from the bank they reverse the payment made to the seller.

If this is a Paypal instigated investigation if you were able to provide proof of posting you would be covered under the Seller Protection Policy.

If you are not covered by Seller Protection and  you have a copy of the email from Paypal saying it is safe to post the parcel then the only other option is to lodge a complaint with the ombudsman.
