Would you have been happy to have purchases cancelled when YOU were new?
i of course had 0 feedback when i started
but i didnt have 0 after 4 years as a member of ebay
the 0 feedback is one thing, an account with no feedback after 4 years is another
oh, and i havent cancelled this sale, ive got it ready to post tomorrow
I have an account with no feedback that is older than that - they may have multiple accounts

I dont think it's that unusual that a member of 4 years wouud have 0 feedback. They probably went to join recently and ebay said "that email address already has an account" and so the member has forgotten they joined 4 years ago and has reset their password.

My first thought would be a hacked account to be honest
I created this account in July 2015. I made a purchase using it last week. Does that mean I've been hacked, or I am otherwise some kind of low life?
The long termers here know that you used to post with your buying/selling account, but then chose to create a posting account. We know who you are. Can't blame you. I did the same thing. Others have too. Just because we have accounts that are years old, doesn't mean we are hacked.
I didn't mean to buy with this account last week. It was an accident. Maybe it's the same for others with 4 year old accounts. Had a forum posting account and accidentally bought with it. It happens.

My account is 5.5 years old with 0 feedback. I guess that makes me some kind of scammer.
Did your 0 feedback buyer pay with their 4yo account? I'm guessing so if you have it ready to post. What is your problem then? I accidentally bought something on this account last week. Oh the horror, a 5.5 year old account with 0 feedback. Sue me.

Not sure what you concern is, it seems they have paid, as you are sending it tomorrow. We all started with 0. I actually bought and sold a few things before I got of zero, because not everyone leaves feedback.
I would give up selling on Ebay if something like that gives you enough grieve to post on a forum,.

Interesting to read your memories of early ebay. I came to the place after things had tightened up a bit, but sellers could still give buyers neg. feedback. I seem to remember quite a few abusing that system.

These days you can't stop zero feedbackers from buying, but what did they buy?
Was it a big thing or just a small to medium purchase?
If the latter and they paid, then give them the benefit of the doubt and post it off, but with tracking.
Yes, I'd be a bit unsettled to see the account was 4 years old but with zero feedback. Of course there can be reasons but all the same , it leans toward the more unusual side.
If I were selling these days and had a zero feedback account listed as overseas go and buy an expensive item from me, that is whan I'd be more inclined to make a cancellation, but then again, I am not much of a risk taker.

i'm a bit surprised at some of the replies to an honest question to should i be alarmed at all selling to a buyer with a 4 year old account with 0 feedback
i take on board some people do have more than 1 account but usually those accounts have 0 feedback for a reason
the items value is $130 so not huge but id be pretty unhappy losing it to a scammer.
not calling this person a scammer as i dont know (as yet)
i see many posts for sellers getting items stolen here by buyers using all sorts of scams
so i asked for advice on this one
i only started selling a couple of weeks ago after stopping for 6 months due to the corono virus restrictions
just selling within australia and no big ticket items really
i have had 2 0 feedback buyers
the first made a claim of 'doesnt fit' and 'return requested' for an item you dont wear or fit to anything.
then claimed it was badly damaged but did not respond to my request for a photo of said damage.
i have not heard from this buyer as yet since i declined the return.
now i have a second 0 feedback buyer with a 4 year old account,
excuse me for being a little worried.
yes, they have paid and yes i will post the item.
but i will also worry about this sale.
i hope i'm not back here with an update saying the buyer has somehow ripped me off.
