150 Free Listings starting tomorrow 17/2

It appears I'm first for once.

Just got an email from Ebay, link http://sellercentre.ebay.com.au/promo/2664 (the usual number) offering 150 free listings from 17/2 - 26/2.

Worked on the account that got the email, other account said 'by Invitation Only'

Will keep trying on the second account just in case...

hasnt worked for me but thanks for the link.

i rekon it ought to be free to list items for sale as ebay are making so much money on FVFs. but at least raise the 40 free a month to 80 once a seller shows they are using the 40 regularly. whats the point of raising my selling limits if i still only get the 40 free listings. i will not pay to list so i use my 40 and hope for freebie offers like this one.

Because a lot of sellers are happy to pay the insertion fee. If they have fast turnover items that sell when they are listed the first time, the insertion fees are refunded (or so it says in the email you get when you list the item). If their item relists, eBay makes money off it. I know quite a few sellers who are happy to pay the insertion fee. Same as people who are happy to pay the $2 for a subtitle.

I don't need insults from you.

I listed a lot a while back when we were getting lots of free listings, now they have dwindled to 40 per month with the occassional 100 some are always going to sit in my unsold section. I ALWAYS ALWAYS relist the oldest first, but it won't help if I don't get enough free listings.

Did you try what I did?  Open google - and type in the promo details.  I didn't copy/paste, whether that made any difference...??

But if it worked for me, surely it's got to work for others.  Maybe I just got lucky, but it's certainly worth a go, isn't it?

I've found previously, that if I click on the link on an invitation only promo that has been posted on these boards, I also get declined.

Re: 150 Free Listings starting tomorrow 17/2

I am only replying to the OP because I didn't want any other poster thinking I was taking aim at them.  My comments are about selling on eBay in general, and not a comment about any particular poster's selling methods or practices.

I don't sell much nowadays.  I intend to start selling again once the changes come in on the 20th Feb.  When I was really into selling some years back the most items I ever had listed at one time was about 40.  Based on this, if I ever got back into selling to that extent then the 40 free listings would suffice.

I think eBay only ever intended the 40 free listings per month to cater to casual sellers.  Let's face it, if you are regularly selling 40 items month after month after month you are not a casual seller.  Sometimes eBay will offer sellers 100 additional free listings.  For those casual sellers who have a lot of stuff to sell then this works okay.  But to expect 100 free listings every other month is just plain crazy.

If you are selling to make money and not just getting rid of personal items then you are not a casual seller.  Whether registered as a business or whether or not you pay tax on your eBay earnings is irrelevant, if you need more than 40 free listings per month then why shouldn't you pay extra fees to facilitate that?  To expect to never have to pay to list and just rely on 40 listings per month + free listings when offered is just plain greedy.

My advice to those that "crave" free listings is to factor the listing fees into your listings.  For Buy-It-Now add the fee to your asking price, that way the buyer pays the listing fee.  For auctions, add the listing fee to your Postage and Handling charge, that way the buyer pays the listing fee.

If you are selling a lot of items then consider opening a store, even if it is only for three months.  Check out what store option works for you selling model and get the benefits of being a store holder.  I haven't investigated it thoroughly, but from what I have read on these boards you may get benefits like 30 day listings, reduced listing fees for certain listings, reduced Final-Value-Fees.

Basically, I suppose what I am saying is casual sellers should never expect extra free listings, and be grateful when they do get them.  That way you will never be disappointed if you do not get the free listings.

Re: 150 Free Listings starting tomorrow 17/2

I don't know of any categories where store listings (for BIN) are not significantly cheaper than non-store listings.

Also, casual, non-store sellers seem to have 30 day listings now available with 3 free relists.

That equates to a 3-fold increses on the previous maximum so should cut some of the complaints down.

Re: 150 Free Listings starting tomorrow 17/2

I do belive ABBA had a song called "Gimme Gimme Gimme". Create another account if the 40 a month aren't enough, or open a store and have 200 a month. One should look at free listing promotions as a gift, not a given. Ebay doesn't have to give them out and they are within their right to stop giving them out at any time. Whatever will the beggars do if that ever happens? Oh the horror!

There have been 2 free for all promotions this year so far and it's only February. If you missed them, it's not our fault or even eBay's fault.

Re: 150 Free Listings starting tomorrow 17/2

I already have 8 ebay accounts because i sell items for people that cannot do it for themselves.

The 40 free is never enough as I cannot get all of theirs and all of my items up for sale.

All up there is over 2000 items. If i relist with listing fees that would cost me $3,000 every time. I cannot afford that, and I cannot afford a store.

I think It was ebay's intention all along. giving people lots of free listings a while back, then stuff all now forcing them to open stores.

I try to accept EVERY free listing, but I very rarely get the invite.

Re: 150 Free Listings starting tomorrow 17/2

An eBay store is only $20 per month for 200 listings or $49.95 for 500 listings, if you have that many listings you would be far better off having a few stores and a couple of eBay accounts for listings. Divide the store fees up between the people you are selling for if they want you to keep selling for them.
