21 DAY HOLD FINANCIAL SERVICE OMBUDSMAN WANTS TO HEAR FROM YOU

Having lodged a complaint against Pay Pal and Ebay in regards to illegally freezing funds and also referring the matter to the privacy commisioner.  The Financial Services Ombudsman also wants to hear about accounts where funds have been placed under the 21 day hold. Their office is anticipating an across board deluge of complaints and they wish to be advised of individual cases as believe this is a breach of law.

Lol...yes it does smack of third line forcing. How ludicrous. Stating that using one carrier (which happens to be ebayer) constitutes "proof of delivery" .....unbelievable..well maybe not

Agree that all policies appear to be mutually supportive with the end goal in mind to persuade ebayers to accept the ebay selling model

Jeez, I don't do much on eBay. I have had the account for a year or so and NEVER had funds frozen prior. Now they have decided it is OK for them to keep MY money for 21 days? **bleep**?

had my funds held since the 14th of december, finally released on monday 5th of january. been on ebay for at least 12 years as a buyer never had a problem, sold my first item some 2 years ago. sold 20 items in november without funds being held. then had funds for 10 items held from december. all items were posted within 24 hrs with tracking numbers. all delivered within 5 days. tried the contacting ebay and paypal with not even a reply to emails. being xmas i was a bit slow doing the FOB so that probably didnt get far before they funds were released. revieved a very silly email from paypal today leting me know they had recieved notification of the FOB' going on to tell me its all been for my own good, to give me reason to mail the items quickly!

my response will be, not selling anything in the near future. and not using paypal outside of ebay for any financial transaction. i had been using paypal to pay houhold bills where it was an option.

if i do sell again and funds are with held i'll imediatly file an FOB for each item not one to cover all.

In one of my many phone call to e-bay they said as long you have 25 positive feedbacks and sold over $250 worth of items they will lift the hold .....tho you have to contact them to state your case to lift it...
