I just discovered by chance that most of the active listings on both of my eBay sites had suddenly become unsold, most after a few relistings. I have not received emails from eBay telling me that they needed to be relisted. I thought that when the new listing screen appeared without the list up to 8 times for free that that option had become standard rather than an option and that all my items would be automatically be relisted for free. What is going on? Why is eBay so poor when it comes to communication?

BIN listings are until sold or ended. They haven't had specific numbers of relists for several years.

The eBaby lady told me that they would only be relisted 8 times, however I fear you might be right. If you are I wuld be just as well to list them as auctions and select Relist Until Sold. I only want them to be on sale for a total of 9 listings (63 days). All my spreadsheet formulas have been set up to reflect this and without that option I would have to remember to cancel listings once they reach this age. I list 100+ CDs and LPs each month and if the listings never end I would rapidly run out of space to keep them.

I fail to understand.
Unless you sell them, you still have to store them. The more you have listed, the more likely you are to sell them.
Unless you chuck them out dispose of them after 63 days. Which would seem to be a waste

If they don't sell after 63 days I either move them to my Discogs storage area or sell them at a music store. I regularly cull my stock. As I list 100+ items a month I would rapidly and inevitably run out of space very quickly if I didn't do this.

During my third conversation with eBay Support I was assured that if I listed my items as Buy it Now they would automatically be relisted 8 times. I wouldn't have to do any thing. I now discover that if I manually relist my items as BIN rather than Auction they will be relisted indefinitely or until they are sold. I want them to automatically relist only 8 times as promised by eBay Support. It seems that I have been upgraded as a seller after more than 10 years with eBay. This upgrading brings me no advantages, quite the reverse. I wish there was an eBay Support that I could contact by email so I could lay out my problem in simple point form.

Why do you only want them to relist 8 times? Do you throw them in a bin after that? Given that everyone these days pretty much has unlimited listings, why not just list them as buy it now? I don't have the same issues, I still get the relist 8 times. I have both auctions and BIN's. Depending on the week, I might sell more at auction, other weeks I'll sell more BIN. I have had some items relisting for several years. Then, out of the blue, someone snaps them all up.

I only want to relist them 8 times because when they are unsold after 63 days I physically move them from my eBay storage to my Discogs storage. Every so often I cull my Discogs stock and sell the CDs/LPs I have culled to secondhand music shops. As I list 100+ items on my two eBay sites every month I would quickly run out of storage space If I didn't do this. I should point out that I have lot the option of relisting 8 times. My alternatives are to manually relist them after each auction period of a week or to have them relist until they sell. Neither is satisfactory.

You don't have to manually relist them one by one. After mine have finished their 8 relists, I highlight all of them and do a bulk relist. Takes around 30 seconds, even less. If I need to change something in a particular listing I'll relist that one manually, but the rest are done in bulk in super quick time.
Even if I had to do that every week if I lost that option, as I said, it takes less than 30 seconds to relist the lot. I have hundreds of items listed over several accounts. I had to do a bulk relist last weekend as my auctions fell into unsold. It was done before the kettle had even boiled for my cuppa.
You've mentioned multiple times that you "lot" the option of relisting 8 times. Isn't that the subject of the thread?

Thanks for your reply. I do, in fact, relist my items via Bulk Edit. My problem is that for eleven years I have maintained an extensive set of spreadsheets which, amongst other things, includes a listing database going back to 2011. I have automated statstical reports which compare my current selling progress with the sales I had made at the same time the previous year. The formulae have always been based on a total of 9 auction periods and tell me when that period has finished so that I can move unsold items fro my eBay storage area to my Discogs storage area or sell them elswhere. This is not so easy if I have to relist them (100-200 items) each week. I realise that this is not eBay's problem, however I cannot work out how removing my option to automatically relist items 8 times benefits eBay. It certainly doesn't help me! Incidentally, I have spoken by phone to people at eBay Support and each time they have assured me that they have restored the option. They haven't.

Have you tried on the app? I know in the past if the option disappeared, often it was still there on the app. In my case, the option always reappeared, sometimes after a few days, but I was able to edit the listings using the app to make sure the box was ticked. That said, when you have several hundred listings, that can take an insane amount of time, but certainly worth having a look.
