A buyer wants my auction item now

It's a large item, so I posted in as local only. But she was willing to pay extra to cover shipping.

I already have one bidder and 5 days left on the auction.

Should I contact the highest bidder and give them the chance to match that price?

Re: A buyer wants my auction item now

No it's the violation of eBay rules if you sold it and on your auction is pick up only. You can send it to the buyer count all expenses and send him a total invoice. But buyer can't push you in this case to send the item it's pure up to you. You had in auction pick up only that means if he want must pick up the item if not you can cancel the transaction and relist the item.
You can't ask bidder do match previous price. You must accept the price what you see after auction is finished.

Re: A buyer wants my auction item now

If it were me I would let the auction run it's course. Plenty of times people have ended auctions for a buyer to buy now and they have turned out to be non payers anyway. If the buyer wants it bad enough tell her to bid on it. If you want yo post after she wins it then you can.

Re: A buyer wants my auction item now

3armyrats, your reply is complete rubbish and makes absolutely no sense at all. There is no eBay rule which states that the seller can't send a pick-up only item via post if they wish, particularly if the bidder has agreed to cover the shipping costs.

Also, there is nothing to prevent the seller from ending the auction early and selling the item to a bidder if they consider the amount offered to be a fair and equitable price, as there is no guarantee that the other bidder is likely to pay that much anyway.

Re: A buyer wants my auction item now

Mama2hart, it's your item and it's up to you if you wish to end the auction early and sell it if you consider the price offered to be fair, but as HBH quite rightly points out, until she has actually paid for it, anything can happen.

The only thing you can't do is contact other bidders and ask if they're prepared to match the price offered.

Re: A buyer wants my auction item now

I,ve just purchased an item for $40.00 . It was listed as local pick-up only, but I contacted the seller before buying and agreed to pay the extra $300.00 freight. You never really know what the buyer is thinking. In this case I think It was still a bargain.

Re: A buyer wants my auction item now

I've bought a few pick up items from interstate. I messaged the buyer before I placed any bids to ask if they would be willing to post and of course I would be willing to pay the postage and for any packaging needed. Most were more than happy, but hadn't offered shipping as they didn't think anyone would want to pay what it cost.

I figure it doesn't hurt to ask. The worst that can happen is they say no. I think as long os buyers ask BEFORE they bid, there shouldn't be any issues.
