Adding external images

I'm so sorry for continually bugging everyone, but how do I add an image using an external link to a listing?

I copy in Photobuckets IMG or HTML codes, but it doesn't make the picture appear.

What am I doing wrong?

What you need to do is switch to the HTML tab rather than the visual editor. Once you have the HTML code, paste it where you want the image to appear (it can sometimes be a little difficult as the HTML editor just shows a wall of code / text, so I would use a visual marker of some kind that will be easy to pick out, eg !!!!!!!!! - when you spot that, copy the HTML code over it, then switch back to the visual editor and your image should appear).

arnl7178, In my Documents I have a folder named Auctions. There I save my pictures with the description name after resizing tem to eBay requirements. Wen adding pictures to my auctions, I go into Browse and selec the folder to open, then select the picture to add.

I have never used Photobucket for eBay sales and never have any problems.

My understanding, Erica, is that you need to have photos hosted online in order to include them in your descriptions.

aml, try this -

When you upload to photobucket you can set it to auto resize to standard size during upload.

When you paste html code into description box, if it ends up in the wrong place amongst all the html, when you switch back to standard you can cut and paste it to move it where you want.

davewil, I have used my described way since I started selling six years ago and never had any problems. eBay listing provides the choice of adding photos and I find it easier and quicker than going back and forth between eBay and Photobucket.

There are so many different ways to add photos, so everyone will find what is easier for them.

Thanks for the link. I have not looked at Photobucket for a while.

lind9650 that works fine if you just want pictures to appear at the top where ebay display them, what the OP is after is how to place them in the body of the description as many of us do.

Apparently photobucket's new site doesn't actually give you to option to automatically re-size your images on upload anymore.

Which of course, is a major pain in the backside!

I'm in the process of re-sizing and editing all of my photographs now though, and it's okay. Photobucket's editing menu however, isn't working correctly, so I have re-sized and edited outside of photobucket. Time consuming, but once it's done, it's done.

Thanks to all for your replies.
