Adverts on Ebay Listings

What is the deal with businesses advertising on Ebay?

I think it is very wrong when you are trying to sell an item and on your lisiting page appears advert selling simular items as you are.

EG: Im listing a laptop for sale and an advert is on my listing

from a company with laptops on sale.

I dont think this is very fair.

Re: Adverts on Ebay Listings

eBay get advertising $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to make up for revenue shortfalls for giving casual sellers 30 free listings.

Re: Adverts on Ebay Listings

As there is nothing in the ebay agreement you read and agreed to when you joined that said you had any control over what ebay display on their web pages you either have to go with the flow or list elsewhere.

They actually make a point of saying that you do not have exclusive rights to a listing.

I put an advert in the local classifieds, and guess what? There was other ads on the same page! 😮

Where exactly do they say that? They do say that you have intelectual property rights over any text or photos created by yourself which may not be copied by others without your permission but I can find nothing that says they cannot put anything else they want on the same page your listing is on.

They in fact informed all members that they would be starting to put advertisements on the same page as listings before they did it so as with any other update to their terms and conditions that would supercede anything said earlier that specified they would not.

Plenty of members agree with you holster100.

IMO, it's sheer stupidity to advertise sites on listings trying to send buyers AWAY from eBay.

Have a look at the thread in this link.

#12 had QS advertised on his listing.

That's solved easily.. Just get Chrome or Firefox and install Adblock Plus.. Then you won't get any ads

In the seller fees section:

"Fees pay for the right to sell on eBay. Sellers do not purchase exclusive rights to Web pages on eBay. eBay may, in our sole discretion, and without your consent or payment to you, place third-party advertisements on any Web page within our site."
