Advice Please! What to do next?

Hi all,

I recently sold a plate on ebay. I didn't have the measurements listed and I called it a serving platter (which is the size I consider it).

The buyer left me immediate negative feedback claiming the item was not was expected and was ridiculous for $25.00. The thing is, she only paid $6.00 for it (plus $11.00 for postage).

I offered to swallow the cost and refund her whole amount if she'd amend the feedback. She agreed and said she would do it as soon as the refund was issued. I refunded the money and send a feedback amendment request.

So now she has my item and all of her money back and I still have negative feedback! I'm not sure how long I should wait, and what to do if she never amends it?

I'm somewhat new to this selling thing, and I've never had this happen before so I need some advice!

Thanks in Advance,

Nicole

Re: Advice Please! What to do next?

This could all have been avoided if you had just given a more detailed description including the length and width. Did you send it in a 3kg satchel? If so by the time you added enough padding to protect it there is no way anything as big as a serving platter would fit in one IMO.

Why on earth would you agree to refund just to get rid of a silly red dot? What you should have done is tell her you were sorry she was disappointed and you would be happy to refund if she returned it, you would get an expert opinion and if they confirmed it was not a serving platter then you would refund in full including the cost of return post.

If you want you can leave a follow up comment saying: Honest mistake, buyer now has item and full refund.

I doubt if anyone is going to be put off buying from you because of a single neg which looks a bit flaky anyway.

For future reference - let the buyer open INAD dispute, this way they have to return the item at their own cost. You will still have to refund, but at least you will have the item to re-list, and you won't be at risk of buyers thinking you will refund simply to avoid a neg. Thanks for the info though, another one for the BBL

Re: Advice Please! What to do next?

BTW - you can reply to the neg and also reply to the positive you left for the buyer.

Keep it calm and simple,

For the neg I would put put something along the lines of: (In Red)

I would consider it a fantastic bargain for only $6.00

(and that is backed up by the price in the FB)

and  on the positive you left

Full refund on request and disappointing to see my negative is still here

Then add them to your BBL like I imagine most of the sellers here will be doing
