Advice on shipping please

I really don't know much about posting clothing items on eBay, but usually an item can go into a satchel and it will be on it's merry way.

However, does anyone have any advice for the best way to send a bridesmaid dress though please?

Would a box + registered post be the most viable option? The dress has a lot of fabric and it's pretty bulky so I imagine a box is the only way. Any idea what size I would need?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

BX4 are quite large and they can be used for the flat rate shipping on click and send. I think they are about $3.50 for the box and about $14 for shipping.

The funny thing with the flat rate box shipping is you can only insure for the $100 (with signature I guess). No extra can be added on the click and send site, what is the go with that...

I think the other sizes are BX1 and BX2 that can be used for the flat rate service .You are also supposed to use the AP boxes they have at the store.

Not sure why you could not insure; I send my own large boxes by C&S, as long as I select signature required, I can then insure it for what ever I want; I have posted this way items insured for $900.  But you have to first click on the "signature required" before the option to select insurance appears.

For the flat rate box. I sent one the other day and clicked "signature required" the insurance option did not appear.

OK 🙂  I never looked into those boxes as they are not suitable for my items.

Ok, so if I buy a box from the PO and use Click and Send, that's probably the easiest way. I'm not worried about more insurance than $100, that's plenty, but I can look into that when I go to set up the order.

Thanks guys.

You can't access the ebay discount rate and purchase with extra cover on-line.

You can process extra cover on-line and print out label and prepare forms etc, but only if you enter box dimensions rather than code, and you do not process ebay rate postage on that particular log-in.

The rate to send is calculated as ordinary, you can select and complete a form online re extra cover, but you can not pay on-line for the post, it needs to be paid over the counter, or put on an AP account and the parcel must be lodged at PO (or AP courier pickup)

Because it is parcel post either way, I think that you can purchase additional services such as extra cover over the counter when you are lodging an ebay rate box, where you have already paid for post on-line.

Sorry, forgot to add...

I'd either go for the B4 box size too for that type of garment or put my own box into a 5kg prepaid satchel ($15.90) and plus $2.70 for registered post.

Be sure to check what size box you can use for 'click and Send' at the AP website (definately can use BX4 and I think BX1 and BX2) and you will need the code to enter into C&S as it is not printed on the box.
