Hi
I sold my old Iphone 5 and listed that when it was a couple of days old it had a glass of water spilt on it and that the phone still worked perfectly for all this time. Mentioned all the marks and the fact that the top button didn't work. Sent this item well packaged, registered post with insurance for my own protection.
Buyer has received item and emailed within 3 hours saying that the item was not as described, buyer has stated when on a light screen it has patches on screen (if that makes sense) Also says that when filming it doesn't film properly. I replied saying I didn't notice the patches on the screen and they weren't in the pictures supplied either, is it only on a light screen or all the time? Also that I had no idea about the filming as I never used it. I know the camera worked as I had used that but never filmed.
I told the buyer that even though I didn't offer returns I wanted him to be happy with his purchase and that he could send it back in the same manner that it was sent to him in and I would once testing and ensuring that phone still worked as it did when shipped that I would refund.
A full day later I receive and email from buyer stating the below
I inquired at a phone repair shop regarding these problem, I was told the screen and camera have been damaged and repair fee is too high and not worth to repair.
So I would like return or get $120 refund for keeping it.
Please let me know your desicion.
Now I didn't ask for him to take it to a repair shop, I don't know what they did to the phone, and if it is damaged to the point of not worth repairing why would he want $120 out of the $360 he paid to keep it.
What are my options here.

When you sell a phone that has anything remotely wrong with it then you need to state in your listing that the phone needs to be repaired or just used for parts because once you spill water/soft drink on it then 99% of the time it will definately need to be repaired, and I think that the buyer is asking for $120 because this is what it will cost them to have it repaired.

Hi
Yes but the water was spilt on the phone over 18months ago and used for the entire time until it was nearly out of contract when I upgraded to a new phone, the phone was still working and the light spots is not something that I saw as he is also stating that it is on a light screen. I did state all the issues with the phone however. He also stated that the repairer said that it is too much to repair. I am prepared to fully refund but want to make sure I get the phone back in working condition and not tampered with by a repairer that I did not authorise to touch the phone.

Hi
I did tell them to send it back they chose to take it somewhere. I need to know when I get them to send it back now that I have the right to tell them that I will be taking it to Apple to ensure it hasn't been tampered with in a way that will render it useless.
