Okay, have a dicey one for you all....
We have been liaising with a company called EbayStoreDesign.org who are based in the UK (company registered as RBS IT Solutions Ltd) who have been building our new eBay store. Seems legit and the proofs of the design are, to put it mildy, bl**dy amazing.
I have seen a few of their samples on their portfolio and all seems good - can't find anything bad about them anywhere.
The coding has now been done and they are ready to go live with the store - all they need are the log on details to my eBay account for 24 hours.
Not so sure about this. Has anyone else had a store professionally designed and had this dilemma? I found them INSIDE eBay by looking at a few current stores.
They suggested I create a temporary password for them then change it when they are done, but how can I be 100% they are done and out of the account?
Argh! ๐

You should have thought of that before you went ahead but it really is the best way to do it. Allow them access to the account then change the password when they have finished. No big deal really.
Think how many members allow sniping services to access their accounts without ever changing their passwords.

They originally advised me that they would supply the code, so this is a bit of a surprise ...

You found them by looking at some current stores.
why not ask some of them if that is how they did it?
I would not mind answering a question like that, with the info you have here; that you have them doing the code, but they have requested access.

I've sent a message to a few in their portfolio ... seems they have about 2000 or so stores under their belt. I will see what comes back ๐

When I have had templates etc done each time I have given the designer my password so they can install it for me. With the ones I have dealt with I didn't have any problems at all.

In my experience it is the norm for a reputable web designer to road test their design live on your site / eBay pages prior to handover.
Saves for a lot of headaches later.
