Am I selling internationally for this item

My item number is 326159749402

I don’t do a lot of selling and it’s very automated now.  I am selling a camera and I have an inquiry from a bidder in Canada.  I am not worried about selling internationally but I cannot send there for $18.  Is my auction open to international bidding?

I didn’t set it up.  Thanks

You don't have canada blocked by what I can see.

But be careful, heaps of scam camera sales to overseas reported here.

Personally dont do it,  block the buyer, but I am cautious at the best of times

A lot of scammers choose cameras and parts on eBay to scam.

Personally I would cancel the bid and change the listing to No International postage. (If the bid is from O.S.)

Also select all the Intenational regions you don't want to sell to.

It may be automated but you are still responsible for the listing and all it contains, setting prices/postage/where you send etc etc

As has been mentioned, cameras are a very common 'scam magnet' when it comes to inexperienced sellers and (especially) overseas buyers

If you have a search on the forum, you will see several instants recently alone where this happened

You say you didn't set it up, did you get someone to do it for you or did you opt to rely on AI to do it?

Have you also completed sign up to Managed Payments and been verified to sell?

Your last feedback as a seller shows 'more than a year ago'

So even if you have, you will still be considered a 'new' seller by eBay and your funds on hold accordingly

I haven't looked at your listing but sounds as if you are set up to allow bids from at least some overseas countries.

In your shoes, I'd block the lot, just don't do this to yourself.

It is 50/50 in my mind that it will end in tears, Yours.

I am not sure why but cameras seem to be a scammer's paradise on ebay.

when i look at the listing it says postage to Australia only.    I am not quite sure what you mean tho, is your existing bidder from Canada?   Or was it just a question from Canada?

Excluding postage locations

If you don't want to post to specific locations, you can prevent buyers from using a delivery address in those locations.

You can set exclusion lists for both domestic regions and international countries/regions. You can also decide whether to create a single default exclusion list and apply it to all your active listings, or set exclusion lists for individual listings

Exclude postage locations

Once you've set up and applied your postage exclusions, buyers won't be able to complete checkout with a delivery address that you won't post to. However, buyers from these regions could still bid on or buy your items, unless you've also set buyer requirements.❞

OP, obviously you’ve set up your postage exclusions, but I suspect you’ve not set up your buyer requirements to prevent buyers/bidders from those excluded destinations from actually buying or bidding.

You can set requirements to prevent buyers from bidding or buying on your items if they:

  • Have a delivery address that's in one of your excluded postage locations
  • […]

Here's how to set up your buyer requirements:

  1. Go to Buyer management.
  2. Decide which requirements you'd like to apply to your listings, and enter any details requested.
  3. To have settings apply to all active and future listings, select Apply above settings to active and future listings. Otherwise your settings will apply only to future listings.
  4. By default, blocked buyers are still able to contact you about your listings. If you don't want buyers blocked by your requirements to contact you, select Don't allow blocked buyers to contact you. (They may still be able to get in touch with you through an Item Not Received case or a Return if it's about an existing transaction). Then select Submit.

Yes - you are selling internationally.

Go back edit the listing to - No International Postage.

Under the postage options.

Showing who you exclude at present - Canada is not excluded.

You can't just say postage to Australia only. If you don't want foreigners asking questions you need to exclude locations you don't post to.

Excluding postage destinations will not stop people from there from contacting you. The listing will say something like "May not post to XXX. Read item description or contact seller for postage options." But it is easy enough just to reply "Sorry I don't post to your country". (I would then individually block them just to be sure.) I do post Internationally but there are 139 countries I DON'T post to. And I certainly don't list all my items with International postage; cameras and lenses would definitely be on Australia Only postage (not that I would ever try to sell such items. ) There is a box you can tick under Buyer Rules - "Don't allow blocked buyers to contact me";  however I have never found this effective for either buyers blocked because of unpaid orders or buyers blocked because I don't post to their country.
