I just had a buyer msg me asking would I end an item and sell it them for $10 including postage, item is listed for $10 with $8.30 postage.I replied do you mean you only want to pay $10 and want free postage as when its all added up I will be losing money.Reply was just put it in smaller bag wouldn't weigh more than 250gms then halve your cost works out $10.I told her if she didn't like the price and postage don't bid on it,she said I was being greedy and unresonable.Item never sold but auto relisted so no skin off my nose.Have others had this happen and was I being unreasonable.

Always a good idea to start negotiations* by insulting the person you're asking to do you a favour.... And then demand a response like it's all owed to them. I repeat my earlier sentiment of ugh.
I'd be tempted not to relist the item and tell the interested party that they've been sold elsewhere for a sum you were too greedy to refuse. But in reality, if I decided to respond to them at all, I'd use a pretty basic one-liner:
I'm sorry you're disappointed, but my prices are not negotiable.
*although in this case, it was a poor attempt to rekindle non-existant negotiations.

About two years ago, I had a special lady message me about an item I had listed. It retailed for a tad over $300. I had it listed at a started bid of $60 (brand new, original box, still wrapped)
She said in the message she lives in my area and wants it for a present, she'd give me $20 and come over right away to pick it up (pick up was not offered) I responded saying I was not willing to sell a $300 item for $20
She responded with a mouthful of how greedy I was, other seller's have accepted similar offers for things etc etc etc
Needless to say, she joined the list
I've had many others but she was the standout

It's funny how they can never see that they are being the greedy one, trying to get it for virtually nothing.
A $300 item for $60 was a bargain.
You'd be tempted to tell her that if she thought she could get it cheaper elsewhere, she would need to find one of those other sellers.

some time back I had one of my re-covered cameras listed for something like $250 B-I-N with Best Offer on a ten day listing. With just 5 minutes left of the listing I got an offer of $20. Well, I just ignored it as there was such little time left.
After the item ended I got a message from this numpty asking why I hadn't made a counteroffer and asking if theirs was the highest offer. They were under the impression that sellers were obliged to make counteroffers and also obliged to accept the highest offer made during the listing regardless of the amount offered.
Some buyers, or potential buyers, are certainly special . . . . . . . . couldn't get them onto my list quick enough.

$20 for a $250 item.
That's optimism for you.
I would imagine a genuinely interested buyer would offer between $230-245.
What these bidders don't realise is when they send in a really insulting offer, it doesn't give any impression they are keen or that they might even come close to a sensible offer so why wouldn't you wipe them?
