Aus Post tracking of shipments to the USA

Hi everyone, I recently shipped an item to the US of A using Australia Post Pack & Track International service. I noticed that the tracking ends when the package laneded in the US, it just says something like "clearing customs" in NY, but nothing the rest of the way to the recipient. Aus Post web page does say "end-to-end tracking" however that doesn't seem to be the case. Anyone else have experienced this with Aus Post?

It can take a while to clear Customs.

If you are really worried ring Australia Post and ask them....they can track it further than is available on the website.

And I wonder why that is?

I've had to ring AP in the past to get details that could have been made available from their tracking page.

You'd think all tracking scans would be recorded and displayed but that's just not the case.

The package has been delivered to the receipient a week ago already, but on the Auspost.com.au website the tracking details still shows it as "In Transit" and the last activity is that it's landed in NY.

I checked the USPS.com website, and the same tracking number shows the same information, still in transit with no further activities after it's landed in NY sort facility.

"End-to-end tracking" indeed.

The package has already been delivered to the recipient about a week ago, but the Aus Post website still shows it as "In Transit" with the last activity of it being processed in the NY sorting facility.

I also checked the USPS.com website and it shows the same "in transit" status, with no more activities after the NY sorting facility. Maybe it's because USPS for some reason didn't do any further scans, but I was wondering if this is a common occurance for US bound packages even though Aus Post says it's "end-to-end tracking". I was concerned that a INR dispute may arise, but the recipient did confirm delivery.

I found pack and track not very reliable.    Also in the U.S., postal workers often leave packages in the open at the front door or gate, and they are regularly stolen (I used to live there).

I always use REGISTERED international post. That way they have to sign for it, and its been very reliable to the U.S and U.K for me, and for most destinations its the same price as pack and track.

Once the package clears US Customs it is released to the USPS and any tracking is up to them not Australia Post.  But AP will have access to that tracking which is why I said to ring AP if you need any sort of proof in the event of a dispute.

Just wanted to add, these aren't trackable on the AP website, but once the package is dispatched to the US, it will become trackable on the USPS site, and tracking to the destination (along with the signature on delivery) is definitely preferable.

Australia Post tracking to USA and Canada, can no longer be tracked, I phoned Australia Post yesterday, who confirmed this.  Once it leaves Australia and lands in USA or Canada, that is the end of the tracking.  I have an item missing, sent 3 weeks ago from Sydney to Quebec.  It landed in Canada 4 days after I posted it, but hasn't been delivered.  The buyer is saying they will wait another week, but then lodge a claim for a refund.  Is there any other way I can post to USA or Canada.  Registered Post is $21.10 and has a signature on delivery but once it arrives in destination country there is no tracking. Pack and Track is also $21.10 and is the exact same but no signature on delivery!!!!  I have looked at a few other courier
