What are they thinking just a major rip off I would say .
Posting out today 17 Aust Post satchels only to learn we no longer get a lodgement reciept only get the little sticker on the satchel so how the heck are we to know what tracking number belongs to what stupid, said this to the girl behind the desk was informed they scan it then it goes into the system .
Thats well and good for them .
I for one do not trust there scanning system I wrote few months back had posted a reg insured item it never arrived and it never showed up on the website .I did get my money back because I did have proof.,but even then it took 6 weeks .
Aust Post needs to wake up .
If we have something go missing we have to prove it .
Its about time Aust Post workers have to have police checks yes I am serious they handle 100s of $ worth of goods a day .
Where is our protection from them seems to be getting less and less .

Hi Mel/Australiapoststore
It appears to be a contradiction? First you say:
"Our postage costs definitely cover delivery service from point A to point B."
then further down you say:
"While cover isn’t included for items sent without Extra Cover, if anything does go wrong we can certainly investigate and refund postage costs if necessary."
This also brings me to ask, does the above mean that Australia Post no longer offers a discretionary refund of up to $50 on lost or damaged articles on items where proof of posting can be established?

So to clarify further.
Level 1: Standard postage, for the true believer or hard core gambler.
Level 2: (SOD) - for the fence sitter, or those who just like the occasional flutter on the ponies.
Level 3: (SOD + Insurance) - for the true atheist or someone completely against gambling.

It's just that, unless I'm giving money to a Charitable Organization, when I hand over my money, I do kinda expect something in return, ya know?

Hi *crikey*mate & chezzy,
I can certainly understand where you are coming from. I’m really sorry for the disappointment that removal of our discretionary cover has caused.
The new product set which was introduced on 8 April has been introduced with a high consideration on customer feedback. Our aim is making it simpler for our customers to send parcels within Australia. It has designed to offer our customers greater flexibility and choice over their parcel delivery service.
Customers can now follow a simple 3-step process for sending parcels; including:
1. Choose your speed (Same Day, Next Day or Regular)
2. Select your size
3. Add your features (eg Extra Cover for Loss and Damage, Signature on Delivery, Track Advice)
The reason we are offering these features are so that our customers have the option to select the postage and service that will meet their requirements for the specific parcel they are sending.
Kind regards,
Mel

Please note that any additional services like a Signature on Delivery will be issued with a new label and tracking number. Any previous tracking numbers assigned to the item should be disregarded.
I would like to have something clarified about processing non-eBay flat rate parcels through Click & Send, please.
A couple of weeks ago, I processed a normal express parcel, printed out the label and took it to my local PO to lodge and pay. It took them a little while to figure out how to process it, but in the end it went through fine and I got a receipt with the original tracking number generated via Click & Send.
About a week later, I processed a standard <500gm parcel and again took it to my post office to lodge and pay, and none of the staff had any idea how to process it and keep the original tracking number, and the person who served me was advised by another member of staff that the only way to do it was to issue a new tracking number and barcode, then process the parcel like any other standard article lodged over the counter - thus voiding the label I had created through C&S and subsequently making it completely pointless to process my labels that way.
The first question is, is this actually what they are supposed to do? And if so, why?
The second question is, if the parcels processed through C&S can retain their original tracking number and barcode, why don't any of the dozen or so staff at my local PO know how to do it?

Can you please point me to the official announcement and information that the discretionary cover was removed and when the general public knew about it? Because I am fairly certain I have seen references to it being available. Pretty darn sure someone was talking about it in April or May. I will have to go digging.
This isn't just disappointing - it is actually making me angry. It seems the information chops and changes, not just online but from Post Office to Post Office. Who does one believe, the person online, the person on the phone, the person at the Post Office?
I have not got back into ebay selling yet - I want to - but I have to admit I am pretty uncomfortable with the conflicting information.

Australia Post set out in their terms and conditions that are made in accordance with the legislative framework that they are bound by. These T&C continue to include clauses on compensation for loss or damage to parcels (section 73).
http://auspost.com.au/statutorydocuments/generalpostalservices/Frame.htm
That said, in their infinite wisdom (choke) "they" have decided to adopt a policy of non-compensation for contents of regular parcels - they have done this by stealth as I have yet to read anything within their products terms and conditions that indicates that no compensation is payable.

d*g, when using Own Packaging through C&S the PO should enter the weight and postcode and then on their screen they have options that include Click and Send Regular or Click and Send Express. If they select Click and Send Regular, then scan the C&S barcode, the postage label will print out with postage cost and the same tracking number.

Thanks for that, 🙂 looks like I'll have to help show the staff how to do it.

The Click and Send express option is not there for small parcels. I watched the screen when they entered mine th other day because there was another thread with the same problem.
I dont send much by express, but I'm interested to know why there is a discrepancy.
