What are they thinking just a major rip off I would say .
Posting out today 17 Aust Post satchels only to learn we no longer get a lodgement reciept only get the little sticker on the satchel so how the heck are we to know what tracking number belongs to what stupid, said this to the girl behind the desk was informed they scan it then it goes into the system .
Thats well and good for them .
I for one do not trust there scanning system I wrote few months back had posted a reg insured item it never arrived and it never showed up on the website .I did get my money back because I did have proof.,but even then it took 6 weeks .
Aust Post needs to wake up .
If we have something go missing we have to prove it .
Its about time Aust Post workers have to have police checks yes I am serious they handle 100s of $ worth of goods a day .
Where is our protection from them seems to be getting less and less .

We have had 2 posties sacked in my area, for stealing items.
I agree,a police check should definitely be carried out prior to commencement of employment.

I would have thought AP could scan items in and print out some kind of lodgement receipt even if money isn't changing hands at the time.
In the meantime is it worth you designing a 'despatch' sheet and keep a list with addressee's name or ebay id, address or post code, brief description of contents and room to place the little numbered sticker from the satchel? Stick the sticker on the sheet while the employee is processing the parcels.

A despatch sheet may not cut it as proof of posting but atleast you would have a record of what is going where.

To know what item goes with what tracking number just enter the tracking number to the sold item as you pack them if you have the satchels at home with you.
But they DO still issue lodgement receipts and it would only be your PO saying this and not doing their job properly.

On the basis of Australia Posts tracking system being in disarray - with some parcels now having two tracking numbers due to the incompetence of the system planners and post product developers, you could ask the PO staff very nicely to stamp a dispatch sheet (a suggested above) as proof of post to addressees for your mail register business records.
Of course you will get some staff that will 🙂 and some staff that won't X-(

I don't use the 500 gram satchels anymore as parcel is cheaper, my PO puts the post code on the receipts so that I know which tracking number goes with each parcel - I upload the tracking number details when I get home.

They do, I can assure you, but if they have no record, but are dishonest, means they did not get caught up till then. What more can you do?

Australia post couriers cerainly do have police checks,It is the 1st thing done when you apply for the job.
And 99% of couriers do a great job,and are honest people,So do not let the other 1% make you think they are all bad.
When it comes to tracking ,all it takes is a damaged barcode that does not work, which will make your parcel untrackable, and there could be other reasons, as well,But you certainly cannot put lost parcels down to theft without any kind of proof.

Thanks for your feedback around our new parcel lodgement process, I’m very sorry to hear that it’s caused some inconvenience.
Parcels will receive a lodgement scan when lodged over the counter as your proof of postage. My suggestion, if lodging multiple items at a time without a lodgement receipt would be to keep a record of the tracking number and the customer it relates to, in a diary to help you differentiate between orders.
Please note that any additional services like a Signature on Delivery will be issued with a new label and tracking number. Any previous tracking numbers assigned to the item should be disregarded.
I would like to assure you that the integrity and security of the mail is our highest priority. We have a range of revenue protection measures in place to prevent and detect incidents in which mail security is breached. We take these incidents very seriously and will continue to work closely with the Director of Public Prosecutions on any investigations
Kind Regards,
Melanie W.
