Australia Post delivery times and tracking info this December

Just wish to check how others are going with their deliveries.

Of the 6 parcels I dispatched on December 4th, four are yet to be delivered within Australia.

Tracking only shows them to have been lodged.

The one international, to the UK, was delivered in 5 working days.

The other, delivered three suburbs away, took a day longer.

Our poor little local parcel guy told me on the road for 14 hours a day at the moment.

Surely AusPost should have foreseen the likely increased volumes and put in place the necessary resources?

StarTrack driver are on the road 13-14 hours every day of the year.....nothing new there.

My local parcel contractor wuld be over the moon to be on the road for 13 hours....it would mean more money in his pocket.

And Australia Post did forsee the increased volumes....StarTrack couriers now have to take up the slack that cannot be delivered by the AP drivers and contractors.....and there is not all that much at the moment.

I have been so impressed with Australia Post this year. Posted a parcel yesterday afternoon Sydney to Wollongong, arrived this morning!! 2 days Melbourne to Sydney. Still 1 week Sydney to Perth but overall I have been amazed by their delivery times in NSW lately.

That is not at all unusual for Christmas.....AP can do it when they want too.....it is a shame that it does not happen all the time but the posties and drivers are working very long hours to do it.

Re: Australia Post delivery times and tracking info this December

Every year in the lead up to Christmas, I find the delivery times speed up significantly. 2 days from rural NSW to Townsville last week. Another was 3 days to Mackay. I can't normally get something that quick sending it express! Last year I had one go to WA that was delivered in 3 days. I think they send by air a lot more this time of year, to ensure people get their parcels before Christmas.

However, I am waiting on a non eBay delivery coming from Melbourne. The My Post notification I got yesterday said it will arrive today (posted 2 days ago). Great! I'm not working today, so I can get it from out the front before some low life steals it. Update today, ETA now Monday. I'm working Monday, so a 99.9% chance of it being stolen before I get home.

It seems not all parcels are getting flown around the country! Some are still obviously going by road.

Have you ever thought of making a box or similiar with a oneway chute for small parcels to be dropped into. Bunnings used to sell a lettter box but it was not the best looking but the box section would be suitable if bolted to a verandah floor and disguised to not be obvious.

If I put anything out the front it gets stolen, as I am in full view of the road, and have no front fence. They just wander in and take whatever isn't tied down. I can't even have hanging plants out the front because they get stolen!

Thankfully, my parcel I was waiting for arrived yesterday, so disaster averted. I'm not sure what someone would want with parts for a model car build I'm doing, but they will try and take it anyway.

I have repeatedly requested to AP to not safe drop anything. They have supposedly marked me in the system, but they will still prop things up against my front door, deeming it to be "a safe place". Some items I am able to redirect to Parcel Collect, but some items won't allow redirection unfortunately.

I get buyers asking to leave parcels at the door step so does it work in reverse and will a seller write it on the box and does a postie take any notice. Maybe you need that postie from WA that threw the parcel onto the roof of the house 6 months ago at least it will add a bit of difficulty for a would be thief.
