Is anyone aware if there is a "period of grace" after 4 January, where the old letter rates will be accepted without the recipient being charged for underpaid postage? In the past there has been an "unwritten period of grace", sometimes two weeks or a month.
This is the case where you drop a pre-stamped letter into a red post box. Of course once you approached the post office counter, the latest postage would be charged.
Happy New Year and thank you for all the very helpful "inside advice".

70% of posters on here are dishonest so what's it going to matter if they still post with a $0.70 stamp?
What else are they going to do with it? add a $0.30 stamp haha

well i dont think thats being dishonest ,i would say people are confused by the word grace , i cant see how the grace period reflects when it gets delivered, surely when it gets scanned thru the system would be the go, then if people pre buy pre paid envelopes like some posters have said here is that dishonest or smat buying,

I often think perhaps I'm too honest for my own good, but I couldn't live any other way I sleep easy every night with nothing on my conscience.
Not that I use them, but somewhere there was a thread or comments about buying pre-paid envelopes before the price went up - I refrained from commenting at the time & just shook my head
Sure, technically it's ok but ethical, well not in my book - really you are paying for the service, not just the envelope.
Edit : well crow,
prepaid envelopes before the rise in cost and that they are going to use them and is that dishonest?
yep in my book it is, even though I know the PO says it's ok (I checked) and it's OK because there is no amount of postage stated on them
