BUY IT NOW

I sold a boat,(buyer" bought it now")without ANY communication.

I get to talk to buyer who claims the right of inspection before payment. Dispute registered, relist the boat and am experiencing exactly the same situation.Am hoping it turns out alright this time!

People indicate "buy it now", find it hard to contact them, then try to claim they have the right to inspect before paying, MEANWHILE THE SALE IS IN LIMBO, no one can offer/offers are cut off. People think there is something wrong with your item.

I also indicated that sale is Pay immediately on "buy it now" and same after discussion and agreement on" offers" also.

No one wants to put themselves out to arrange inspection, THEN, buy or offer.

THEY want to freeze your sale, don't pay(breaking a contract) then suggest they have been ripped off by others,so I AM THE SAME.

Not this little black duck.

What do ebay sellers/buyers think?

You are among the polite ones my friend, the others just don't recognise that their advice does not equate with eBay rules and remain silent. As far as eBay is concerned I am right in my stance,so, why all the conflict of advice coming from people.1 lot of fees and another to claim now, because of blind greed/cue jumpers.

The boat is worth it, am keeping it. It didn't last 24 hrs both listings, so ,if people want to "get in front" by hitting the "buy it now",having no opposition to their ways, they just hit a brick wall.

ANYONE FIND THAT RULE YET, ebay says I sold TWICE.

Thank you lotb. KInd Regards.

Lyndal, with respect, what happened with my item is as I stated. What is this perfect world?, I have just shown you it isn't perfect.

No ethic, everyone had the opportunity to inspect, they, are the perfect ones to cue jump ,then whinge.

Can you display these unwritten rules that give you the right to air them here/ Not being silly! I want to know them,"so I can follow them even if I disagree with them" in your playground.

No one will admit some rules are" made up",aren't they?

Never too old to learn,I really wish to do so, Lyndal.

There is no contract without consideration. Until such time as something of value changes hands, it is merely an offer to buy.

As far as your selling fees go, you can approach your previous 'buyers' about mutually cancelling the sale (not recommended, as you have probably alienated them) or open Non-Paying Bidder disputes.

You mentioned 4-500km trips to inspect. If that was indeed the case, do you really think a prospective buyer would be prepared to travel that distance to inspect before purchase? Not knowing if the boat would still be available when they got there? Not necessarily having a way to buy the thing (through eBay, not $$) even if it was?

I suppose it depends on whether or not you really want to sell the thing. As you are obviously only looking for local buyers, maybe try one of the free classified sites.

Hi davewil, all you say is true. I took the same gamble when I bought the boat. Contacted the seller, arranged a meet, negotiated ,paid, took possession a week later, needing a heavier vehicle. Didn't block anyone, stayed in the cue.

Keeping the boat, I have,as it turns out, upset too many.

Still years left in her,was going to downsize, I'm better off  keeping it. Regards.

Although it's a moot point now, as I mentioned earlier all of that is possible with a classified listing because there is no Buy It Now option with that format.

Contacted the Res Centre and eBay says that bidders using BIN WITHOUT eBay and not paying for item BEFORE  picking it up are"misusing'" the BIN feature(dishonesty I call it). They also say to inspect BEFORE paying where possible.

That is how it should be done, not "misuse" as suggested by yourself and others who have instant quietness syndrome?

Kind regards, stromper-gd

Am trying to get someone to admit that they use the BIN for their dishonest advantage. You and no one else will. Originally came on here to get help and help others with info that eBay accepts as the norm/std. But I am faced with chiding and repetitive comment when it is easy to ask eBay.They will back you and me,they have it both ways.Don't go hurting yourself, I'm told you are much too pretty for that. What dishonest advantage?? I use BIN and pay immediately, but you don't have to do it that way, eBay give you 8 days to pay and a seller can only open a NPB dispute after 4 days...

You keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means

Okay Patchoo, nobody wants to agree with me that when a Bidder uses BIN and PayPal is NOT  chosen as an option to pay for the item, that item is erased from the sale/auction and no one can bid on it.This happened to me twice, both times the bidders indicated they wished to negotiate(I do not regard that-nor does eBay as"BOUGHT IT NOW")-therefore dishonest,I then have to wait 4 days to re-insert.

Using PP WITH BIN,bidder has to CONFIRM payment to PP to have the item indicated ,indicating commitment WITHOUT negotiation, closing the transaction.

If a bidder wants to do that ,okay. I WOULDN'T,BUYING A BOAT EITHER, I use PP and pay immediately for lesser value items.

I do it one way, I'm in the frying pan, do it the other, I'm in the fire.

I originally entered a thread here to get help and give out that info.

Some people have derived pleasure that I "don't understand their interpretation."

Hope that long windedness explains my dilemma.

Forgive the hour, just finish my cuppa and back to bed. Regards, stromper-gd
