Buyer Unresponsive

A buyer claims his children made a purchase from me. I was never paid and he requested a cancellation after I sent an invoice and emailed him. He appears new to eBay (5 stars) and he has not responded to the cancellation request which was sent days around 4 days ago. I have emailed the buyer again and asked he please accept the cancellation he requested but I haven't received a response. I also politely explained that I need him to accept the cancellation to get my fees credited back to me for the purchase.

What are my options?

Re: Buyer Unresponsive

don't email him anymore. If he doesn't answer in cancellation request for 10 days from the time you opened the request it will close automatically you will get your sale fees back. If you email him and he disagrees then you will have to wear the FVF's on the sale.

in future you are best to open an non payment dispute instead of the cancellation. a buyer can still leave negative feedback for a seller for a cancelled transaction however if you open a non payment dispute and they don't pay within 4 days you can close the case they will receive a strike and will not be able to leave negative feedback (if they do before the case is closed ebay tend to remove it) and you get your fees back.

Re: Buyer Unresponsive

There children made the purchase eh? It doesn't matter if a fly landed on my screen (for me) or a cat or dog touched there keyboard (computer users) they are responsable for it!!, gosh there seem to be a number of threads about buyers not paying, not shure if you'd call them buyers, more like tryers imo.

Re: Buyer Unresponsive

Thanks for all the advise. It really helps Smiley Happy I agree that people are responsible for purchases made on their computer and this is eBay's policy too but, you can't force buyers to pay if they refuse to take responsibility. I will just have to wait for the cancellation to close on its own I don't think my buyer will be respondidng which I don't understand because he asked for the cancellation. I guess you just can't predict people sometimes. I have had another case this week where a buyer has purchased and then not responded I have just opend a non payment dispute.

Re: Buyer Unresponsive

So it goes like this.

Just to clarify

Your kids opened the ebay ap on their phone

Your kids typed in search information and identified a product

Your kids them committed to purchase the product

But the kids didnt manage the paying bit

Funny that.

Re: Buyer Unresponsive

This is a problem!

A REAL PROBLEM!

I do not say that seller is right  but buyer should respont to sellers messages and give to him the  chance  to corect his mistake or in most cases to do his job!

In my cases they  bought   letters/numbers  and I asked them  which letter, font, colour etc but several  buyers never answered,

buyer  bought a letter but never informed the seller which one or he bought an item and asked for an other one, different colour, size etc  and whe seller informed him that he paid for 35mm not for 160mm letter  and askedthe buyer  << do you prefer to sent to you the item you bought or to refund you?>> no response to 1st, 2nd or 3d message,  no response at all!

THIS IS A REAL PROBLEM!

Every one could make mistake, no problem, but we should try  to solve the problem, we should show some kind of understanding and maturity!

Re: Buyer Unresponsive

I'm not sure what you mean antonios7529? Let me explain. After sending an invoice for the purchase 24 hours later the buyer contacted me saying that his children made the purcahse, that he didn't want the item and could the purchase please be cancelled. Is it suspicious that children could make a purchase by loggining into the parents account yes but, I did not say anything like that to the buyer I simply sent the cancellation request he asked for and asked him to please accept as soon as possible so I could relist the item and have my fees credited back to me. I was never paid for the sale.

My buyer did not respond at all to the cancellation he requested. I started this thread to see what my options were for this transaction and it turns out all I could do is wait and hope that my buyer did not decline as I would be stuck paying for fees for an item that I was not actually paid for.

I was acceptionally polite in all correspondance as rudeness accomplishes nothing. I have had a further item sell in which the buyer has reported an error in purchasing which is frustrating as eBay's policy is that all sales are final and buyers are responsible for their accounts not to mention that you can't just click buy now and the item is yours you must then confirm the purchase.

I'm not sure what exactly I could be more compassionate about???? I am prepared to cancel a purchase at a buyers request (saves negative feedback or non receipt claim) but a buyer that requests a cancellation and doesn't respond is not a good buyer.
