Hi,
I just cancelled and refunded an order. Ebay says the purchaser has 10 days to confirm the refund. What hapens after that, if he doesn't confirm?
He paid by paypal.

If you refunded via Paypal, you have a record. I think if the buyer neglects to inform them of the refund, you can just phone, point to the records and have the case closed manually.

The guy is playing games. First he says he's accepted the refund, then he says he's stilll waiting for the email. Oh, and he threatened me.

The refund is automatic as soon as you issue the cancellation request.
The only other thing left to do is to get your FVF fees back.
If the buyer does nothing then after ten days the cancellation times out and your fees will be refunded.
You don't need to do anything more.
Your PayPal account should show that the refund has occurred.

Keep the messages and report the threats to ebay

You should be able to go in and close the cancellation after (I think) 8 days to get your fees back. I've never had one time out, I've always had to close them manually. Mine have usually been 8 days, but some report they can't close it until 10 days.

Tippy... I don't think you (the seller) can close a cancellation request once it is opened.
If the buyer accepts/agrees to it then it will close automatically and your fees will be refunded.
But if they do nothing then after 10-days it will automatically close.(time out) and your fees will be refunded.
However, if they reject it then you will lose your fees. In this case if they have paid I don't know what happens to their refund????
At least that's the way I understand how they work.
On the other hand you can close a Unpaid Item Dispute (UID).
If the buyer pays then it will close automatically and it then becomes a normal transaction which you need to mail out.
If the buyer does not pay then 4-days (or more) after it was opened you can close it and your fees will be refunded.
In this case the buyer will be issued with a strike on their buying account.
In the case of a UID, neither you nor the buyer can leave feedback.
If the buyer should leave bad FB before you close the case then ebay will readily remove that bad FB.
I think a UID will time out too if you (the seller) does nothing more about after it has been opened, but I don't know what happens to your fees or if/not the buyer is still issued a strike. I don't know what the time-out period is either.

I closed the cancellations in the resolution centre. Only had to do that a few times as the buyers usually accept straight away.
UPIs time out after 30 days if not closed and you lose your fees.
