Buyers who don't pay

Im still struggling to understand why somebody would buy a 'buy it now' item and then just not pay for it with no contact whatsoever from them. Its frustrating that ebay doesnt really help out sellers when this occurs - I mean its one thing getting the final value fee refunded, but what about when its the last item in stock, meaning that I have to re-list it at a cost to me.

Also, this thing about the buyer getting an unpaid item against them. Does that really acheive anything ? Not that I can see.

Anyway, rant over, lets hope sales pick up in the Christmas lead up ๐Ÿ™‚

Not necessarily.

When you sell to somebody, you don't choose them, they choose you. You don't care about their Feedback. The only time you go through their FB is when something goes wrong: for instance when they claim INR.

When they do, you check their FB and see that 10 other sellers have left FB to the effect that they asked for a refund. A few too many of those and you don't refund that kind of a buyer, you let them open a dispute and prove your case later.

Under eBay rules, there are many crooks out there feeding off poor eBay sellers. Why don't the same people buy products sent with tracking?

sellers live negative under green dot,so other sellers know,i live few times negative for buyers under green dot, because ebay cancel negative for buyers

All you achieve by doing this is adding to the buyer's feedback score.. Also, if any buyers knew that it was a policy violation to leave a Negative comment with a Positive feedback, they can report you and your feedback would be removed..

The best way to stop dodgy buyers from buying from you, is to follow procedure and open up a UPI in which case the buyer will get a strike.. Then you can set up blocks to prevent buyers with a certain amount of strikes from buying from you.

If you give the buyer a few weeks to pay and they still don't pay, you have no one to blame for your problems but yourself.

So you're advocating sellers violating eBay policy? The only person who looks bad by leaving a positive with a negative comment is the seller. The buyer can always have it removed which may result in the seller's account being restricted.

No, actually, I'm not. I'm advocating that eBay policy should allow for sellers who receive INRs to be able to put those against a buyer's FB or account in some way. Even if it's just a case of INRs being anonymous and a certain number of those on one account having some sort of repercussions for the buyer. I don't know how that would be implemented but I'm sure that, wise as they are, the guru eBay policy-makers can figure out a way.

As the policy is today, I wouldn't leave a positive neg myself if only to avoid limitations on my account. But I don't blame sellers who have done so only because they've been conned once too many. And, whether or not we like it, we all profit from the insight given when we see one too many INR positive negs on an account and add the buyer to our BBL.

Thanks for that Pathchoo. It is good to know it isn't that easy to just use someone else's account to get past seller blocks.

I agree that giving a non-payer a strike is the most effective way, so they can be blocked by other sellers. However, I do sometimes learn a bit more about a buyer from the pos-negs other's have left, but ultimately wish the sellers would realise a strike hurts more.

There are two thing being discussed here:

1. Non payers: The system is great and only a strike helps sellers avoid them.

Non-payers are a pain but they don't take money out of your pocket. Worst case scenario, you wait a bit before you re-list something.

2. Crooks who buy things, pay for them, claim INR and get a refund.

Crooks are bad! If you leave a positive neg for one of them (I won't leave one cause I'm scared of the big bad eBay limitations) I'll be thankful when I see it and put them on my BBL.

Now, lets be honest: eBay isn't our mum or dad to protect us from every bad wolf our there. We shouldn't expect any sort of protection to come free. However, we do pay fees and eBay advocates buyer and seller's protections in return. I'm sure there are fairer ways to implement those, especially if they are protecting us against repeat offenders. If somebody can think of a particular way we can be protected by repeat INR offenders (thieves), maybe do us all a favour and place your thoughts in the suggestions box (is there one?).

hee hee hee, wondered how long it would take for you to see my 'back up'

Honestly do get where you are coming from tho, there needs to be something to protect sellers from the 'habitual' INR claims.
