Can I change a cancellation request to an Unpaid Item dispute?

In a nutshell:

Local buyer purchases a BIN pack of gemmae (seeds) for $5, and asks for pick up to save a whopping $2.50 on postage fees.

I agree, arrange for pick up from my workplace, buyer is a no show.

A few days later, I send a message offering to cancel the item, and open a mutual cancellation request.

Buyer then emails and syas she does still want the gemmae, and will collect this weekend.

I take the item to work, and once again, she is a no show.

Now I'm cranky. This is too much diddling around for a $5 sale, the gemmae is perishable and I had to throw the first lot away, and may have to do so with the second lot.

But it seems I can't open an unpaid item dispute because I have already started a cancellation request. What now? I no longer wish to deal with this person, and want to relist and sell before the gemmae becomes unviable. Do have to wait for the cancellation request to run it's course before I can do this? The 'buyer' has not responded, or agreed to it.

How about I send this message via ebay:

Hi J*****,

The gemmae was again not collected yesterday, so I no longer wish to organise any other times for pick up. If you wish to proceed with the sale, please pay the invoice I am about to send you via ebay checkout, which includes postage cost. I will then have the package sent to you within the next 48 hours.

If you do not wish to proceed, please accept the item cancellation request that I sent you earlier in the week, so that I can recover my auction fees and relist the gemmae.

Regards,

*me*

Sounds okay, but what if they get the **bleep** and decline out of spite ?

Maybe best to leave them and hope they know little enough about eBay to ignore the request - that was as stated earlier in 7 days you close it and you get your fvf back.

Up to you - BTW - put them on your BBL now, don't wait until this is done.

Bleep was for a very mild swear word, but I have left it stand coz the bleep gets my message across even better.

I recieved a slap on the wrist from the Mods. a few days ago for using a four letter word starting with "Cr" and rhimes with "snap"  In relation to all of the Chinese junk that is clagging up our searches. WHAT THE *BLEEP* was that about ?????????

Yeah its better that they ignore it and do nothing rather than decline.

At least then on the 8th day you can close the cancellation and get back your FVF.

So I never remind them to accept it.

Okay, so the buyer ignored the cancellation request, and yesterday I closed it from my end and had my fees refunded. No contact from her at all in the last 10 days.

Now today I get this message:

Hi I have for gotten to pick up the pygmy' I went in today but you were not working'
so can I have bank details so I can pay, sorry for mucking you around,

j******

My plan is to ignore. She is now on my blocked bidder list. Question - can she leave me a neg for refusing to follow through with her request, or has she lost that ability due to the transaction being cancelled?

No, since cancellation, she can no longer leave you any feedback at all.
