unfortunately had to close my little store seling vintage fashion items. it was a hobby and my little empire of joy and escapism from my usual desk job.
paying double that of what was currently already been jacked up rate of $24 is just a bit too much for my wee store which only sells 4 to 5 items per month.
ebaying used to be so much fun.. but ebay just keep upping the ante rate wise. sigh..
guess there could be smaller websites to sell to.. but i feel so defeated. its been fun. but not anymore. hanging my enterprenuerial hat for a bit.
to all my friends and former customers - remember my little store - kikis_playpen
maybe i can set up my own web page. but doubt it. im just one of them little people out there trying to make my mark in this world.
thanks ebay for killing my dreams.

hi silversky,
know how you feel. bit lost too without my little store. but such is life eh? us little backyard sellers dont matter to the big guys. although we were the ones who propped them up at the very start.
does anyone know of any other alternatives other than facebook garage sales?
would be much appreciated. thanks!

I believe eBay has got this one really wrong! Leaves a bad taste in the mouth, smells like greed all over and ultimately, eBay will shoot themselves in the foot here. They've tried to box sellers as either "big sized" sellers (store owners) or "small sized" sellers (non-store) and in doing so have forgotten the "middle-sized" sellers, the small businesses who use ebay to supplement their own web site sales. In times of economic hardship for many small businesses, that $50 per month will be better spent on their own websites, and as this move has ruined the trust in ebay from the middle-sized sellers, many of them will give ebay the flick altogether. Bad move ebay 😞

kiki if yr only selling 2-3-5 items a month... then really you should be taking full advantage of eBays offer to small time sellers. 30 FREE listings every month
run either 7 or 10 day auctions or 10 day Buy it Now's
start with seven items every week as 10 day Buy it Nows and as the month ends, either try new items or re list your unsolds, 7 items every week as 10 day listings willget you as many sales as you 2-3-5 a month sales when you had a store.
not the end of a dream, just the beginning of a new adventure
~~ ~~ ~~ Those who do right, have nothing to fear.

You can not take advantage of the free listings if you are a registered business.
You can if you create a new ID that is not a registered business.

A registered business can claim any increased costs as a tax offset can't they?

Holy heck... I just read the rationale behind the new logo. I truly feel that ebay has lost touch with its base market.

hi putney,
thanks for the tip. i will try to look into it. although it sounds too labourious compared to having a store.. . anyway, i think ebay has had its run with me. cant trust them not to hook me up with a free bait and then turn around and try to charge me again.
cheers!
kiki
