Changes coming soon to eBay.com.au (14/08/2012)

I think if you read back over its only a suggestion about a lot of things, its not a you MUST do this.

The 30 day returns is also just a suggestion, it also sais if your business can support it, so naturally if you have normally been listing with 7 or 14 day returns you then stick to it, but if your business can handle a longer return time then take it up.

I think only the ones who has basic stores are being hurt by this, as they paid what was it $9.95? or $19.95? i cant remember, i started off with a basic store think it went up to $24.95, I then changed to featured store, it was i think $99.95 or $95.99.

With the last lot of changes this price came down to $24.95 didnt it? fvf came down from 7.9% to 7%, and listing fee came down from 40c to 20c.

I notice someone mentioned fvf were going up with these new changes, no where do i see that, its still 7%.

But now the new featured store fee is going up to $49.95, its still less than we were paying at almost $100, so featured store people are still better off than we were, still getting 20c listings, and still have cheaper fvf.

Also read again about the borders, it states that the changes MAY include getting rid of borders, or something along those lines, so we dont know if it will or not.

Really you dont need to do anything if you dont want to, im not going to change anything, i have NEVER changed anything with all of the changes ebay has brought in, ive just learnt to live with the changes and go with the flow.

Ive increased my items, still trying to get to 700, i never seem to make it though, i get to over 500 and buyers just keep buying, it makes it very hard to list up to 700 items lol

The whole world is changing all the time, we just need to learn to adapt.

But those who had featured stores to start with are still better off than before the last lot of changes.

I know this has nothing to do with topic but one thing ebay really need to change and thats buyers HAVING, being FORCED, MADE to contact us BEFORE they can leave a neg or netural, im so sick of getting negs and neutrals from buyers who just dont contact me what so ever, i would be more than willing to help them if they were to just contact me first.

Ebay change the feedback system please, put in a block where when they go to leave a neg or neutral, a pop up sais have you contacted your seller first, if they lie and say yes, then the pop up sais we have no record on the system, please contact your seller first.

Then they are forced to email us about any problem, all email contact is visible by ebay within the ebay system, ebay can then see if a seller is willing to help, if they have emailed the buyer back etc, if the buyer then still leaves a neg or neutral after a seller has shown that they will help, ebay needs to remove it.

Ok rant over, im going to bed!

3 negs and 2 neutrals in 12 months, Sassy. Not a lot for your volume.

Shops were $19.95 when I came back. For me, it's a $30 per month increase over 4 months with NO reduction in listing fees and NO reduction in FVF.

I didn't want or need a featured store and have no use for the extra couple of functions that were thrown as a sop when the Basic and Featured were amalgamated.

As far as I'm concerned it is a 150% increase for nothing.

If you look at the example I put in at around post #50, you can see the stupidity in driving the smaller sellers away. We make them more profit than the big boys for the same turnover.

When I opened a store basic store fee was $14.95, BIN insertion fee $0.10 and gallery picture $0.01. That time store items didnt show up in the search. So I needed to send some items to auction regularly.

It changed to store fee $19.95, BIN insertion fee 40c and gallery picture free. It made me so worried. But because the store item was included in search total eBay fee was about the same after the change.

When multi-variant format was introduced, the number of the listings was reduced. It made me save some insertion fees.

My store says 145 items listed at the moment but actual listings I pay insertion fee are only 60 because of multi-variant format. So I saved 85 x $0.40 every months since the format was introduced. It made me save $34 every month when insertion fee was $0.40. And now I still $17 compare to before multi-variant format after insertion fee went down to $0.20. And I actually had more listings that time. So I think I might have saved more.

The coming change is including more categories in multi-variant format. It might make some difference to some sellers who are selling items in many colours and sizes which aren’t clothes or shoes.

$25 fee increase may sounds big. But considering the changes over a few years it might not be as big as it sounds to some sellers.

I have more concerns about the change on TRS.

Offering free postage, express delivery option and 30 days money back guaranty.  It’s unrealistic for low price items.

And I also have concerns about new picture requirement s.  There are a lot of seller writing “Australia seller”, “Fast shipping” on pictures to differ their listings from flooded listings from overseas since eBay decided to put their listings mixed up with Australian ones. I think it should be allowed. And unsure what happens to pictures existing listings if leaving them as they are.

I may or I may not close my store in future.  At this stage I can’t say what I will do. Only thing I am sure now is I will try to adjust to the change as I’ve done so many times before. Then if it doesn’t work out I will make the decision.

I hope eBay will provide more detailed information about the change soon so we can prepare toward it. So far none of questions here was answered since Mary offered to answer our questions on Wednesday afternoon.

You know, this reminds me of Westfield bringing in paid parking at Chermside and Carindale shopping centres. Everyone knows that retail is doing it tuff (I've certainly found in the last month a massive drop-off on sales). But they do not care that they are making it harder for the retailers - they're just looking out for their bottom line.

Also reminds me of Brisbane City council when they brought in the water restrictions here because of the drought - they had to put the rate rates up because everyones water usage went down and so did their revenue!

This is purely a commercial decision made by eBay Management ...

The ACCC can only become involved if their action was in conflict with the Trade Practices Act.

Sorry.

What a shame there is only a tiny portion of the seller that will come to the boards and have their say.

It would be great if all the sellers that participated in the survey came here as well with what they thought about the survey.

I know all the ones I have ever had never asked me if I thought the store price should be raised.

I am also a small store owner, which will now cease, and of course cannot have 30 free listings as they made me a power seller.

The last month sold 165 items, not a lot, but to me , it is.

Ebay and Paypal can add up the fees they will now miss out on, multiply that with heaps of other small X owners , and I am sure they will loose a lot of money.

Do they care, I don't think so, as the extra shop fees may cover this.

but as a buyer, I have lots of favourite little stores, which will probably go a-wall also.

good luck to all the small sellers, I'm off to the markets now.

Incentivise??? Absolutely :^O joins the world of wonk words :^O

People think they're cool when they use words like ( moving forward, absolutely, incentivise, going forward & all the other wonk speak going around today, means nothing.

Remember the Julia Gillard moving forward speech? :^O

Create a new ID so you can get the 30 free listings a month till the PS status has dropped off on this ID then use this one as well.
