Many others on the UK & US Boards have expressed the same sentiment.
As a buyer I have no problem with this "new" feedback".
I have 60 days to leave feedback & that is more than enough time for me to decide the quality of the item.

I'm a seller on another account, as well as a buyer, so here's my opinion (for what it's worth):
Most of what I buy is bulk lots of postage stamps, both mint and used.
Each lot is different, so how can my rating of the product itself help future buyers, especially if the rating of the product is attached to similar products from other sellers.
It's a bit different when buying new things, but even then it really depends if the product rating is lumped in with other similar products, or if the item has to be exactly the same. eg. do they compare Kmart clothing to designer brands, or $2 shop gadgets to brand name gadgets.
I don't really think that the product rating is necessary as part of the feedback process, but don't have a problem with it being there, as long as it's voluntary, not mandatory, as it can be annoying as a buyer when all I want to do is give feedback to a good seller.

OK, so the last 3 purchases I received from eBay (in the last couple of days) were a pack of 5 emery boards; a pack of 10 biro refills; a 6 roll pack of Sellotape. (I’m not making it up). 😄 I don’t think I am going to be able to rate the entirety of each purchase in 60 days, even if I could remember to do so. I quite understand that I am not a typical eBay buyer but that’s the point – a “one size fits all approach” does not work. IMO it is the product rating which should be optional, not the other way around. The service I received for these purchases was excellent and I would like to be given the opportunity to say so, as I was before.

feedback is about seller product and delivery and how they performed when things go wrong this suggestion of yours doesn't cater for all aspects and would be open to misinterpertation.

Feedback is not about the product
Reviews are about the product
Two different things
