Anyone noticed the rules on the new Big W click and collect, you must use Print Postage lables to use it and its now automatically getting added to all Premium Service sellers.
Is this the same as how paypal became mandadory.
What if you send via a courier or send items using regualr mail sevices such as large letter or another service not offered by click n send.
In essence here are the new rules cut from ebays press release I recieved.
We'll automatically add a Click & Collect option for FREE to all of your eligible listings that:
When you print your postage label, we'll include a unique identifying code in the delivery address.
Woolworths/BIG W use this to process the parcel and let your buyer know they can collect their order. If you don't include the code, Woolworths/BIG W may dispose of the parcel when it arrives at the store and you could receive an 'item not received' defect.

Click and Collect is NOT Click and Send.
I think you are mixing things up, it does not affect the way you ship, only the location you ship to.
If you send items by large letter thru Auspost, you will still send items by large letter thru Auspost, only the delivery address will be the buyer's local Woolworths or Big W store, not their private address.
The same applies if you send by courier, the courier delivers to the store instead of to the home address.
From what I have read there are distinct advantages in this process for those of us who send a lot of large letters.
Firstly, the item is deemed delivered when it reaches the store and they notify the buyer it is ready for collection. If the buyer fails to collect on time, they can no longer claim item not received.
Secondly, if you send by courier and the buyer is not home, it can lead to extra charges for re-delivery, or unhappy customers who may have to pickup at a local depot (in some areas). If they are delivering to the store, this is no longer an issue.
You can opt out of it, but personally, I don't see a downside at this point, it is no different to using a parcel locker.

Just to add to my previous post, I haven't seen a definition of an eligible item yet, but I expect it will be much the same as for parcel lockers, and letters will be ineligible anyway.

- Meet weight & dimension limits:

This is incorrect.
For the Woolworth Click and Collect service you can use Australia Post services (not only the ebay postage service) or the choice of three couriers Fastway, Startrack and I think the third one is Toll.
It is a great service for buyers who have trouble getting to the Post Office during business hours and it costs the seller nothing to offer this service.

They probably mean "will" have tracking uploaded, and would base that on the postage service selected by the seller (eg if they have parcel post with tracking selected, that meets that particular eligibility requirement).

@stackthecards wrote:Yeah problem is theres no option to say you dont want click and collect, i post most my items in large letter form, if somehting doesnt arrive and cause theres no tracking, i cop it on the chin and resend, its alot cheaper than paying $8 for each item and keeps costs down to the buyer and keeps me sorta competitive with the asian (free postage) competition. Adding $6 to each shirt will wipe me out and make it non competitive. Only option i can think is to add a few days to my handling time, deliberatly loose my premium seller status and by proxy not get forced to use the BIGW click n collect. So essentially offer a worse service on paper just to keep costs down to the buer. rather stupid really.
You can opt out of Click and Collect - http://sellercentre.ebay.com.au/click-and-collect-faqs
Can I opt out of Click & Collect?
If you'd prefer not to offer a Click & Collect service for your buyers, you can opt by going to your Site Preferences in My eBay. If you're using a third-party listing tool, contact them for instructions on opting out. You can also edit individual listings if you don't want to offer Click & Collect for a particular item (for example, because it's too heavy). Look for the check box in the postage and payments section of the listing form.
If you change your mind, you can always opt back in to offer Click & Collect through Site Preferences.
I do NOT have the click and collect option selected, have just doubled checked, but they have made all my listings include click and collect!
I have just sent a message to the help desk to ask - but it appears you can't just select to not have listings included by using the untick you mention.

you must go into your account info, find postage details, see 'click and collect' choose edit then change it to 'NO' then your listings wont show click and collect.
on 10-04-2016 09:06 AM
If you want to opt out completely, that is correct, but if you want to offer click and collect on some listings, but not others, you need the function in the postage policy to work - and it doesn't work, as the listings I have with postage policy offer click and collect unchecked, are now offering click and collect.
So does this mean it is only all or nothing?

Another example of eBay making what was a SIMPLE THING into a convoluted COMPLICATED process for the sake of more PROFIT for eBay somewhere down the line.
What happen if my parcel is slightly oversize? Do I now have to pre-pack every item I list to make sure it fits within the size/weight specs for click & collect (before I list the item so I know whether to select it or not)?
The good thing about using Australia Post is that their business is processing mail (and we all know that there are still problems)
Now they're bringiing in organisations that know nothiing about about handling mail (and or course we sellers will cop the defects & refunds for their ineptitude).
The previous system has worked for decades.
A trained person delivers your item to your door. If you're not there it is redirected to your local post office. How simple is that?
Why muck around with such an effective and proven system?

sounds like another in a long list of ebay functions that dont function.
they only have a department of thinking up ideas not a department of making them work.
