Closing shop over x-mas

Is after X-Mas a quiet time of year. Is this the time when shop oweners shut down for a while?

Re: Closing shop over x-mas

depends what they sell I guess/

lots of people get money for Christmas, or can spend money they didn't need for Christmas, so some places must sell something.

Re: Closing shop over x-mas

I usually keep everything fully active over Christmas, but this year there will be no mail processed / delivered from 25th-29th December (sounds brief, but a purchase posted on Tuesday, while it'll be collected etc, will not go any further until the following Monday).

So I'm thinking visible with holiday mode on for a few days is the way to go. Plus, I think retail outlets usually get a lot of the post-Christmas custom due to boxing day and new year sales, although I did't really have much of a downturn myself the last two years with a store.

I stay open, I usually sell something even on Christmas day, not everyone celebrates Christmas.

Re: Closing shop over x-mas

Over the years I have had some amazing sales on Xmas day, boxing Day and just generally in December. One day I sold twenty Aussie kits to an American purchaser who was buying them as fast as I was listing them. A couple of extra days on postage was not a problem. But the $600 dollars extra in my bank account was the type of problem you want.

Re: Closing shop over x-mas

My sales peaked in the last couple weeks but dropped dead since Saturday.

I am going to New Zealand for new year holiday and have been worried about orders made during the time I am away.

looks like it won't be much of a problem now.

I am going to change my store banner to a holiday notice and forget about eBay for 2 weeks.

hooray!!
