Controversial, I am not ever going to do this but I was wondering about Ebay rules.

I know that I am one of those people that will ask the supermarket attendant where the chips are when I am standing in the chips ile.

Anyways,

I want to ask a customer to call the store as they are having difficulty with their payment 'it appears' (paypal, ebay invoices etc). May  I then ask them to DP their money into our account without an invoice through ebay in this one instance?

I said to him that I must send the invoice through ebay as he is an ebay customer.

He is new, and yeh, what can I say he probably has no idea what he is doing. I can guide him through the process but the only problem is my uncle is the store owner and he is lucky if he can use a mouse or keyboard. I monitor the account from home, and I do not want to give my home phone number away. I suppose I could offer to call him.

But, what I am saying is that if I have a phone number for my store listed on ebay and they call me, do I need to always invoice them through ebay.

I want to make it clear that I want to follow ebay's rules and not any other path. i personally love ebay and dont want to risk anything, but I also want to help this customer.

If you are registered as a business seller on Ebay you can include a phone number on your listings as long as it states the purpose of the phone number (ie for customer service call....)

There is no problem with a buyer phoning a seller for advice on how to complete payment. New buyers can find ebay very confusing and often need a little assistance to start with.

Also, just in case you are unaware, as from the end of February all new items listed on ebay have to have the product identifiers in the item specifics, which I think in car parts is the MPN.

For GTC listings ebay will not automatically relist them after the end of February if the information is not provided. You will also be unable to list any new items without the product identifiers.

If they have purchased the item through ebay, send them your bank details through an ebay message and they can direct credit your account. Once you see the money has arrived, mark the item as paid in your sold items section. A blue dollar sign should show. I occasionally phone customers when problems arise and we are usually able to sort them out.

Once you start selling larger numbers of items you wont want to sell off of ebay as it will mess up your accounting and stock control systems. Its more trouble than it is worth, not even taking into account the moral obligation to ebay issues. Basically its too much hassle keeping track of everything.

If a customer has instigated a sale via ebay it needs closure via ebay, otherwise it stays open as payment pending and they will get reminders from ebay, and it will mess up your ebay admin. How they actually pay does not matter, that can be direct similar to a pick up item. The money transfer need not be "trackable" by ebay.

Once payment has been received and item picked up/delivered., mark it as paid in Ebay and your done. If you send them an ebay invoice it can be marked paid and picked up in store

You only need to send an invoice if you have paid postage (which you don't, yours is free) and the buyer buys more than one thing (or if it's a larger item that has the postage listed as freight). As you have free postage, none of your buyers need to wait for an invoice, regardless of how much they buy. They can just pay when they're finished buying. If they need an invoice for tax purposes, print one out and send it with the item.

Also, by not sending an invoice and having no correspondence at all with a buyer, automatically gives you 5 stars for communication. Yes, that sounds ridiculous! I rarely get the auto 5 for correspondence as I sometimes like to send the buyer a message.

As already mentioned, you can send the buyer your bank details via an eBay message. Or, if they call the store, they can give their credit card details over the phone (I'm assuming you mean a physical store, not your eBay one?). Once you've seen payment, mark it as paid. The blue shopping trolley icon won't turn blue, but that's not a problem. Only the $ will turn blue. That keeps everything legal in the eBay sense. If they have a PayPal account and are having trouble logging into it, and they have a credit card, they can pay via PayPal as a guest using their credit card. They don't need to log in.

In regards to not giving out your home number, I can appreciate that. However, if eBay has that number and a buyer requests your details, eBay will give it to them.  If eBay does have your home phone number, remove it and just give them a mobile number. That way if I buyer does request your details, they can't find out where you live by doing a reverse look up on your phone number.

Well, log out of your personal account then. I access multiple accounts on my phone, as to plenty of people. Would you like step by step instructions on how to log out and log back in again?
