Deducting postage costs from an invoice if an item is picked up and not posted

I usually don't post sold items, local pick up is my preferred method for most of the large items I sell. I recently sold an item that listed a postage fee of $13.50, the successful bidder opted to collect personally. When I tried to deduct the postage cost from the invoice total, I couldn't. Is there something I'm doing wrong, or do I just message the buyer advising that the postage fee on the invoice doesn't apply and mark the item as paid in full on receipt of the winning bid amount? I thought I had a pretty good handle on eBay trading, but this one's got me stumped.

If by any chance you're clicking the Recalculate button....don't. Smiley Very Happy It's actually a 'revert to original' button.

When you go to send the invoice, change the postage service to pick-up, then enter 0.00 in the price field, then hit send (or preview the info, and if all good, send).

I presume as they are picking up they will be paying in cash so why do you need to send an invoice, amended or not?

I think all eBay sellers should be aware of how to send an invoice and know how to adjust the total successfully.

Sellers may need to send an invoice for several reasons:

- as a reminder if item remains unpaid

- if the buyer has requested an invoice

- to adjust the post service & price (express)

- to combine items & then adjust post price

- to have an order form and invoice on the record that accurately reflects pick up method and the actual $$$ due / received
