With this new penalties (defect) system about to hit us we sellers will now be penalised for cancelling a transaction even if the buyer requests it.
If the seller raises the cancellation then you are at risk of the buyer rejecting it or doing nothing about it.
Either way you will be hit with the defect. Or not receive a fee credit.
So we are inclined now to just raise an unpaid item dispute no matter what the buyer wants. That way we simply protect ourselves and the buyer gets the strike.
Is there (or will there be) any way that the buyer can initiate their own cancellation request that the seller just has to AGREE with and not be issued the defect?
I guess if the seller rejects the cancellation then it would automatically progress to a UPI dispute.
Any thoughts on this one ppl?

Thanks for that link.
The link worked. Got me into the PS forum.
And now the PS forum is showing up on the list where it wasn't before.
Don't know how that works, but it does now.

more on the defect / cancelling items affecting dashboard etc. I rang customer service this morning:
what I got from it was we're evaluated the first time from 1 may - 20 aug regarding this "new policy". What they told me was when cancelling a sale, if you do it - its to do with the reason you select - item not in stock is a defect, as is already sold to another buyer.
buyer changed mind/made a mistake is not. (however i won't be doing too of those in future! - just in case)

thank you all for the helpful post of this thread. wow there is so much pressure on sellers now.
only a few days ago I had a non communicative buyer with no feedback having bought 2 items no payment. after emailing, sending reminder invoice and still no response so opened resolve a problem. I received a narky email back pretty much saying I was going to buy more but I won't, due to you harassing me. I counted to ten, did the housework, came back and politely responded to saying communication is the key, email me let me know what you're doing ....blah blah!

I still have two defects for cancellations at the buyer's request. l have the messages as back up where the buyer asks to cancel thier purchase but still...defects.
l've spoken to eBay twice now and they still insist its just a bit of a glitch that they have a team looking at (more than one seller reported the same issue).
Low DSR's are now visable by item number when you run a report that is just one click. Very annoying to see a buyer who, after leaving glowing feedback and a warm wonderful message of thanks, gave out two 1's for postage and communication. Item sent with tracking that shows it was posted the same day as payment. And l answered all 6 questions she had before purchase.
It gets harder and harder to keep one's ratings nowadays.

re this dsr thing. IF you state in your listing you post within 3 business days (is usually earlier but not always), regardless your buyer can still mark your postage time was slow if they didn't read that right?
