I sent a parcel on Monday within Victoria with a scheduled delivery date of today (17/4) at the latest. Upon checking the tracking this morning I see it's been sent up to QLD with new delivery date of 28-29 April!! I was shocked, why was it up there when tracking as of yesterday showed it was heading in the right direction, and last tracking before the QLD one showed it was about an hour drive away from final destination. Contacted Auspost and they were next to useless, telling me not to worry, that it's on schedule. um, no it's not.
Anyone with more experience know what may have happened? I've sold quite a bit and i don't recall this happening.

I can't solve your problem with AP, but it's essential that you contact your buyer and explain to them what's happening - maybe with screenshots of AP's response.

Iโm in Adelaide; I once sent a parcel to Melbourne. It went via Perth, and sat there for days! Good job it was a repeat customer!
Stuff gets misrouted all the time

Take Padi's advice and notify the buyer immediately.
Hopefully it's an experienced buyer, who will understand that this happens occasionally and trust you,
as I presume it's the item you sold for $480 ?
