I've totally given up on Australia Post now as they are way too expensive, too slow and too time consuming, thus why they can't make any money.
I have sent a 50cm x 50cm x 30cm box that weighed 8 kg's from Adelaide to Sydney.
Via AP it cost $56 and via E-Go it was $13.20. I paid an extra $2.00 for them to phone the receiver 30 minutes prior to delivery.
and to make matters better they pick up from me and hand deliver to the receiver.
The parcel was picked up on a Monday afternoon and I received a photo of the parcel first thing Wednesday morning when it arrived. Not bad eh ?
Why would I ever waste my time with AP again.
Australia Post, you've definitely lost me as you're paying too many fat cats at the top way too much and service is no longer your priority.

Oh I love being accused of being someone who lives in a different state to myself. That's a new one on me.
Do you have anything constructive to add to this discussion, or did you just create a new ID to bag out members?

Lyndal has decades of experience courier-wise.
I would certainly consider her advice. And yours, if you actually gave some, rather than lurking for months, then posting a reply after what you consider to be an offensive post, that gives FACTS.
Mate, you will soon find out what an offensive post is. And what a slap is.

joined yesterday, bad first post, poor form, I don't think you will last long on these boards . . . . not under this ID or any other ID as Lithium have ways of connecting posting IDs, so if I were you I'd be concerned that your other posting IDs may get sanctioned because of this totally unwarranted and inappropriate post.

my post was in reply to one that has been removed and not in reply to lyndal

The reason some sellers have received negs and low DSR ratings is because they are too lazy to do anything that is cost effective for the purchaser and only made it to suit themselves.
An example is sending an item that could go into a standard envelope with a cost of 75 cents opposed to slugging around $9.00 for some prepaid satchel and extra on top. That doesn't encourage me in buying a small cost item only to get reamed out on high postage prices.
As far as using E-go is concerned, I should've made it a bit clearer about using them for boxed up type shipments and not letter style stuff, for that any courier wouldn't be very cost effective. BTW I don't ship any small stuff, only items that are sizeable and fragile with very good packing.
I have absolutely no quarms in paying for someone to spend time properly packing an item so that I receive it in good shape but get really annoyed when someone has spent all of one minute and then wants to shaft the purchaser with a highballed costing.
Some sellers need to be a bit more flexible and not use the one size fits all system just for their own convenience, thus I'll always look for better and more cost effective methods so that the purchaser gets exactly what I would expect myself.

Most sellers state that if you're not happy with any policies or prices in their listings then don't bid or buy.
No one forces you to buy from a seller,so don't complain after the fact.

Clearly been a while since you posted a letter it costs $1 to post a small letter $2 anything over 5mm it is very unlikely anyone is sending a few pieces of paper in a satchel. So lets start with $2 postage now to send it properly you need to send it registered, if you are willing to buy a box of 50, for $160, it costs $3.20 so we have $2+$3.20+envelope so sending by letter is $5.20. Now anything of value it would not be safe sending in a plain DL envelope so we would need to increase the envelope price this could easily come to $1 so you could be looking at $6.20. Now posting something this way would be a pain so adding $1/2 on top as a handling fee would not be extreme. So your envelope could easily cost more than if it was sent by satchel.
Of course you want the seller not to register it well they will need to increase the price because it is a matter of time before someone rips them off. Now if we are talking about a $1-10 items it would be silly to pay $9 for postage but as it is clearly posted the cost of an item if a buyer goes ahead and pay $20 for a $10 item they really can not cry about it, even though they do.

If ther's one thing I've worked out from this thread and that is the moment you mention anything negative about sellers and their money making antics, they all try to protect to themselves to the death, then they all start to round you up like a murder of crows and circle in for the kill.
Nothing ever changes on eBay, that why so many have left and are on Gumtree and more so on various Facebook selling pages, I for one can't blame them as I'm also sick of the attitude that festers here.
Good day to you all.

Who is trying to protect themselves? The only thing I did to protect me was add you to my block list. I was not trying to point anything out about sellers most of us know what we are doing (or at least try to learn as we go) I was pointing out about buyers like you who hand out negs/neutrals without even thinking about the REAL cost of postage basically at the end of the day you have no clue but mess with other people trying hard to sell on EBay.
