Drop in sales in last week or so?

I have had a noticable drop in sales in the last couple weeks. My sales usually fluctuate, but this lull is a bit more than just a lull.

From what I can tell it has nothing to do with changes eBay has made to ratings systems, or anything of that sort. My listings remain unchanged, my competitors listings seem the same. I was never topping any search results anyway. There have been no price changes. In short nothing has changed, just the number of sales.

The drop has been between 50% and 95% from day to day.

I'm really not that fussed about it, just seems very weird and was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this.

Sincerely, thank you once again for your input.

You must have a very kind heart to give of your time to assist so many people.

I'll try to bumble on without you.

I am committed to a healthy trading community.  Nothing more or less.

I know how it feels to do well, and I know how it feels for sales to plummet.

Sorry you have had a decrease in sales, I will leave it to you bumble about trying to work it out.

Re: Drop in sales in last week or so?

I had a look at your Christening listing, with Alexander and Aria as the main photo. I could see 10 different photos on both the laptop and my android. Same with the engagement/wedding anniversary one. 7 different photos on both laptop and android. They look great!

I think I counted 16 that only had one photo and there were a couple that had the same photo twice, but people can still see what they are buying. I'm sure if they looked at all your listings and wanted say a wedding one with a horse background, they'd only have to ask you.

I like that the description on your listings fit onto the android screen without having to scroll sideways to see it all. I hate the ones where you have to go back and forth to read the description!

Re: Drop in sales in last week or so?

I think I've just had one of my best sales day in ages! 6 things just went off in the last 2 hours and one left due to go off in about half an hour. I've also sent a second chance offer to a buyer, so hopefully they might take it up!

I haven't done anything different, just lucky I think.

Re: Drop in sales in last week or so?

Thankyou.

You are very kind to go to the trouble of not only looking at my items on a phone screen and laptop, but to calm the waters somewhat.

Yes, I do many special requests for backgrounds, some I hand paint... and yes, there once was a request for an equine themed one for a wedding, would you believe.

I am glad that you pointed out that you had actually seen the number of galleries I do have displayed.(21)

The last poster kept saying that I had 'Very few' listings with galleries, which I could not get past, even tho I was appreciative of her help.

I am really glad that you have had a good sales day. Well done !!

I have had a good day in all other aspects, catching up on my orders of family name researches and crests which I also sell, so I can post them off tomorrow before the grandchildren descend upon me ( school holidays)

Cheers for now

On most of my items (first name meaning scrolls), I have galleries of background pictures underneath the main pic, as alternative choices to the main item's background picture.

Ah I see my error, my apologies again, I searched only your Id and based on your post the key words first name meaning scrolls that has a number of listings with only one photo.

I had assumed that you had uploaded several photos to these listings in particular.  I should not have assumed.

I am glad that you now realise your listing photos are visible on mobile devices Smiley Happy

Re: Drop in sales in last week or so?

Rosie, I hope you don't mind me adding in some further constructive advice, it is well-intentioned.

I have viewed DOUBLE NAME SCROLLS PERFECT ENGAGEMENT GIFT which has 10 photos, all of which I can see in the gallery and scroll through. That, I believe, is not the primary issue, I think it's the fact that none of them have assigned identifiers. To put it another way, if a customer messaged you with a purchase and said "I want the one with the flowers", would you know which one they had chosen? Your best bet is to make it as quick and simple for them as possible, without asking them to try and explain which of the designs in the listing they want - even a simple numeric system would help a lot I reckon (eg put 1, 2, 3 etc on the different designs, then all they would have to do is say "design 4" and so on.

You don't need to list these items separately, you can create multi-variation listings in the category if you wish, which means people can choose a specific background from a menu, and the image automatically changes to the respective image (if you have different images uploaded for each visible variation). I suspect that more than a few people are used to the ease and convenience of making their choices like this, and would in turn increase sales.

Re: Drop in sales in last week or so?

Dear 'ethereal entity' (lol) ...Thank you also for your input and understand what you have said.

Fortunately I don't have much trouble discerning buyer's selection of background pictures.

Most select the main picture, or if they go to the galleries, they tell me which one by number (in line).

The scrolls also have different names on each, and some buyers will say "The one with Charles and Ishbelle' on it" etc.

So which background the buyer wants has not been a big problem.

It is just the buyers who say 'Have you got any other backgrounds?' and seem only to be seeing the main picture, which are the worry, and had led me to believe that the galleries were not visable to some.

I am guessing that these buyers don't really know their way around eBay and don't even realise you can click on the little door icon to go to a seller's store.

I would have thought that was rather the obvious thing to do to see what else was available !

With regard to your second suggestion. I will look into it for sure.

Having the assurance that my galleries are indeed visable on phone devices is a relief.

Thank you to all participants on this thread.

Now, lets get down to the business of selling....I'm still waiting...and nothing's happening!!

Re: Drop in sales in last week or so?

I too have noticed a DRAMATIC drop in my sales, since last Sunday? There does seem to be some issues logging in - seems to get "hung" and you have to retry 2 - 3 times?

I wonder if this is ticking off buyers - especially by phone - and they're just turning away?

If this keeps up - I'll be dead broke, by the end of October. eBay is all that keeps us going income wise? If there are ANY eBay reps reading these posts - get it FIXED guys - or you and all of us will be dead in the water FAST!

Re: Drop in sales in last week or so?

1. Five days is no where near long enough to establish a trend.

2. This thread is over 4 years old.

3. There are numerous current threads about slow sales.

4. eBay do not read or respond to the MEMBER to MEMBER boards.
