EBay is now virtually useless

Not sure if it’s because Albi has rooted the economy and no one has money to spare but eBay has become a friggin wasteland of uselessness

few years ago sales were good, now I can’t virtually give stuff away. Add to that the ridiculous fees they charge and then want another 12% of your sale to “promote” your item

Favebook, Shopify etc are now the go to sales and buying places. EBay is a has been

Your choice to leave. Nobody here will notice, nor will eBay. Nor do you need to advertise your intention to leave. Except for us nosey ones who will check in a few months and find you are still listing here.

You might note that November has become the worst time to sell, given Cyber Monday fortnight, Black Friday month, the runup to Christmas...

Or you could blame the Government.

Not sure why you feel the need to tell other members

But indeed, must be the Labour leader

Do you think you will sell more if the right wing mob were in charge of the country?

Re: EBay is now virtually useless

Just a random thought but I couldn't help noticing that your name suggests you sell car parts and there is a buyer on the buyer board who might have done better to buy from someone like you, as he is getting the run around from his seller of car parts.

I agree with you that ebay is up against it, with lots of buyer choices online these days.

And one thing I thought of this morning, as I logged on, is how all the Black friday sales razzamattaz seems to have passed ebay by. A lot of people will be shopping over the next week or two but ebay probably won't be their first port of call.

I have recently made a few small purchases on ebay and when i mentioned it to a couple of people, their response was they had not looked at ebay in ages. So yes, it's not what it was.

And yes, the economy is tough right now. People are still spending but they are looking for sales.

As we move closer to Dec, you may find sales drop more as people move into gift buying rather than car parts or collectables.

My advice would be don't drop your prices too much, you need to make a profit.

If you seem dearer than eg some overseas sellers, you need to spell out the points of difference and why people should buy from you. Local, helpful advice, reliable, quality etc

If you're too cheap, people wonder if an item is poor quality.

Your job is to convince them to pay more for better quality.

And ride it out as things may be slow till after Christmas.

Re: EBay is now virtually useless

I've been on here for 10 years now and we where selling more most months compared to the year before, now that changed when the Australian election was announced we also had trump who tariffed the world and no matter how much extra advertising and extra items we put on here we still can't bet last years sales. Now I think I think ebay has tried to get the sales back up, even with the fake wrong postage price trying to do better pricing so people buy and even now trying to get sellers to include the tariff we get charged for US sales to get more sales. Just hasn't worked. I think what needs to happens is an election and interest rate cut before things improve. Even when you talk to people who don't sell online, everyone is felling how bad it is out there. Just got wait it out until things improve.
