I feel blessed in my particular category because there are never more than 2 pages of search results for the keyword 'termites' in the category 'Pest & Weed Control'.
I am however a bit peeved that a particular competitor is ALWAYS sitting on top of me. He lost his power seller status ( and consequently TRS status ) about 6 months ago through lack of sales.
I believe that there must be another factor 'outside' of the ebay system that is contributing to his prominence in search and it is quite possibly Google advertising.
This may explain why many sellers are finding competitors sitting above them for no explicable reason.
Best match should reflect a seller's performance and product WITHIN the ebay system.
Any thoughts ?
PS I am NOT advertising.

Term, give the buyers more credit for looking for the best deal.
Isn't that what the famous best match is supposed to do ?
Of course buyers aren't going to jump in and buy just because an item is top of the list. I am just trying to figure out why he keeps sitting there.
Thanks for the thoughts soul.

One way that smaller sellers can sometimes beat PS in Best Match is if their listing is ending within 24 hrs. So, if it's feesable and you really wanted that number 1 spot at all times, you could just have a listing ending within 24 hrs every day. Not that you need to worry since you're already at the top but just something to think about.

Does this mean if I put something like: No termite damage in my clothing titles they will appear higher up in searches :^O:^O:^O:^O

I've never used 'best' match and a lot of others have said they wouldn't search by it either.
The majority pick 'price + postage - lowest first' or 'ending soonest'.
I think you're stressing over nothing. You don't have the level of competition I do, and I still sell the odd item.

Sorry if I came across as stressed. Peeved and curious am I. Mainly peeved. Maybe because he was a registered VERO ( which was a joke ).
One of ebay's great mysteries.

I wouldn't waste too much energy on it as it is all likely to change again anyway http://www.ecommercebytes.com/cab/abn/y12/m10/i15/s01

Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain.
I love your sig Kaz. Great advice because there always seems to be a storm rolling in around here.

Half the things they come up with on the ecommerce site ever happen and many of the ones that do only apply to the US site so I wouldn't go making any changes on the basis of that report.

A quote from the article...
"Former Microsoft exec Hugh Williams, who worked on Bing..."
We're all doomed.
Doomed! ๐ฎ :_| :8}

Oh no, not Bing!!
Everything is hunky-dory and all is right with the world and the computer is working beautifully and you are lulled into a false sense of security and then up pops Bing.
I have disabled him, I have removed him, I have tried everything but nothing stops Bing.
One day I hope I will be truly Bing free, but how will I know, I can go months and no Bing but then Bing returns without warning.
Be gone Bing.
