I feel blessed in my particular category because there are never more than 2 pages of search results for the keyword 'termites' in the category 'Pest & Weed Control'.
I am however a bit peeved that a particular competitor is ALWAYS sitting on top of me. He lost his power seller status ( and consequently TRS status ) about 6 months ago through lack of sales.
I believe that there must be another factor 'outside' of the ebay system that is contributing to his prominence in search and it is quite possibly Google advertising.
This may explain why many sellers are finding competitors sitting above them for no explicable reason.
Best match should reflect a seller's performance and product WITHIN the ebay system.
Any thoughts ?
PS I am NOT advertising.

Thanks for the auction tip soul.
I have been ebaying for over 5 years and that penny never dropped.
I tried a 3 day auction listing and bingo !!
Thanks also from our main selling ID that just lost it's TRS badge thanks to some 'things'.
Tried a 99 cent 1 day listing and at least we are visible again.
To early to tell if auction visitors check out our other items but
your tip has been very well received here.

Is there a difference between having a 1 day auction finish every day, or a 10 day auction finishing every day? I'm just wondering if there is a difference because I usually have 10 day auctions running all the time and finishing every night. Does a 1 day auction stay up the top the whole time?

I don't think it would matter beach.
It appears that whatever is 'ending' soonest seems to float to the top.

oh ok. Yes, if an auction is finishing soon it usually gets to the top. So do you mean to say you didn't do any auctions before? I have always added them as an extra to my store items. I start at least one off every night. I've always done that. You are better off running 7 or 10 day auctions as it gives people time to find the same item in your store and 'buy it now'. I sometimes auction a unique one-off item. But usually it is just a buy now item and I find that while the auction is running I will sell a few of them on the 'buy now' listing. It is a great way to promote a particular item that you want to shift. So even if the auction item itself doesn't sell I find it still works.
