I received this blunt message this morning :-
Hi mate you haven't posted my item yet ??
Arrr, no ! Paid for order at 6.03pm Thursday evening !
Not 100% sure if it was only our PO, but it wasn't open Saturday morning as it usually is until 11.30 and regardless, nothing would leave there anyway.
Well I've sent a very polite message in response (while gritting my teeth) and guess I will now prepare for a neg when it's received. From the name, sounds like a buyer who would not observe Easter
To everyone who observes the day - Happy Easter

How rude of your local PO to be closed when your buyer wants his item posted. LOL
People can be amazing that is for sure.

Some people are just idiots. A smartarse comment would have been tempting. Something like "sorry your item hasn't been posted yet. You paid on Thursday night after the post office had closed. I tried to call the post master to get him to reopen so your parcel could be posted like you demand it should have been, but he didn't answer. I could have broken in myself, but I am still on probation from my past post office break and enter.
As it is a 4 day long weekend this weekend, whereby nothing is open, I have decided that as you want your item regardless, I'll hand deliver it to you. As I don't have a car, I will need to walk, so shall see you in about 3 weeks. All I ask in return is a cool drink on my arrival. If you would like it sooner, then you'd best be doing what the rest of the country is doing, and that is waiting until everything reopens on Tuesday so your item can be posted. Feel free to open a dispute and leave negative feedback. In regards to the feedback, please make sure you use capital letters and punctuation so you can express how angry you are at me. Thank you, get stuffed, signed me".
Edit: all PO's were closed on Sat.

Well, the truth be known, I did send a kind of tongue in cheek smartarse (can't believe we can use that word ! ) reply and haven't heard a peep since :
Thanks for your message. No I haven't, because you paid around 6pm on Thursday. As it is the Easter long weekend, Post Offices have been closed (here in my area at least & I understand everywhere) since close of business Thursday and don't reopen until Tuesday.
If you need it in a hurry, I could send Express if you are prepared to pay extra postage to cover the cost.
Or, if you wanted to add to the order that would be fine and I could combine post, providing you wait for a manual invoice so I can adjust the postage.
Sorry, just trying to cover all the reasons you may be asking. Don't hesitate to get back to me. (Wanted to add MATE - but didn't)

dunno what your post time is set to, but if its 3 days post it on the 3rd day just before closing as it seems your likely to get a neg out of this mumbat anyway.

I had a buyer win an auction last year on a Saturday night. They paid within the hour. Sunday morning I got a rather terse message "where my item? I don't receive my item. Why you no send?". I decided to ignore it thinking maybe they had me confused with another seller. Monday morning, 6am, I received almost the exact same message "where my item? I don't receive my item. Why you not post my item?". I sent them a reply stating they had paid on Saturday night. The post office isn't open Saturday nights or Sundays and 6am Monday it is still closed. I said I would be posting it that day.
Tuesday I got a message "my item still no arrive. Where my item? I paid and you no send". I replied telling them to check their purchase history as the tracking number showing I had posted their item would be there. I also pointed out that it takes longer than 18 hours for an item to go from regional NSW to far north Qld. If they had wanted the item quickly, they should have selected the express post option. Even then, that still takes 2 days.
Friday, I got a message and I nearly gagged before opening it "my item arrive today. I am so happy, thank you". Then I noticed my feedback score had increased by 1. I figured at the very least I'd get a DSR defect, but was originally expecting a red dot. Checked it and the feedback said "the best seller I have bought from on ebay. Very honest". PLUS, I got 5 stars for everything. Turns out he was just so excited about getting this particular item, he was like a 6yo kid on Christmas eve.
Hopefully this is just the case with your buyer. I got the impression from my buyer that English wasn't their first language, so as you said, maybe your buyer was born overseas in a country that doesn't observe Easter. If they haven't been here that long, they may not realise that it's a 4 day long weekend. Especially if they live somewhere where the whole ares is just their own people who would still be trading on those days. Fingers crossed any way!

Love your story
Very likely - I copied & pasted the message to my post, so English seemed ok, mate ! But it was short, so hard to tell. The name and suburb are exactly why I was thinking they probably would not observe Easter
Bt yes, fingers crossed they are just over eggcited

Maybe not . . . . . . must have been my day for them !
So now I've copped a grey dot ! 'Photo does not match the item' - no communication first, so nothing to lose, figured I'll ask for a photo of what they received !
Note : Seems to be a rather picky buyer too - will be at the top of my party list. I can add them immediately while waiting for their response and photo can't I ? That won't stop current communications ?
