Ebay blocking messages.

I've posted about this before but its starting to really bug me that i have to be creative about how I word messages to buyers.

I have a buyer that purchased the wrong item and needs to exchange it. The one he needs is $15 dearer but I cant tell him that via messages because they wont let me send it.

It was ok for him to send his mobile number to me though?

As if its not hard enough to sell on ebay without them blocking legitimate communications between buyers and sellers.

So now I'll ring him and probably get him to pay the difference by credit card so now paypal wont even get the cut they would have received. idiots!

I tried to send a message to a buyer the other day in response to them asking me which email address a notification (generated independently by me), had gone to.

My first attempt said "it was sent to the gmail address associated with your PayPal account" - that was blocked due to "containing an email address". (I guess eBay are getting wise to the practice of writing protracted addresses).

I changed gmail to email and it went through.

Madness.

You have their personal email address so why not just use that?

And they also have mine, as well as my home & mobile numbers and fax number. However they still chose to contact me via ebay messages and the polite thing to do is reply the same way if I can.

Since ebay blocked me from replying they missed the commission on the balance owing and will now miss commission from any future purchases made by this customer as he is happy to contact me directly in the future.

Their idiotic policies are forcing the exact situation they are trying to avoid.

I just deleted my previous reply as you are now contacting your buyer through direct email.  Smart move.
