Ebay refunded my buyer for non receival before the estimated arrival time. The buyer opened a non-arrival case prematurely and I advised the buyer of the end of the estimated arrival time more than two weeks away - as stated by Ebay on my listing. Buyer was OK with this but suddenly Ebay just refunded the buyer from my funds so I lost the sale! Not only is this inappropriate but I believe it is fraudulent. Ebay has stolen my sale! They clearly didn't bother to check my messsage to the buyer or the delivery details in the listing. I am selling stuff not giving it away! Naturally I have appealed but has anyone else experienced this disgraceful conduct by Ebay?

Yes. Very recently I had a buyer open a request for not received 4 days prior to the estimated delivery date they were shown. It was only $4 or $5, so it wasn't worth the hassle. I just refunded and blocked straight away.
As for shipping to NZ, there's no way I'd ever dream of sending anything overseas without tracking - so I just don't offer such shipping options.
Don't forget that since eBay stepped in, you will now have a defect on your account as well. I refunded myself to avoid this happening.

Even if it was 7th March that is still 6 days before Ebay took my money to refund the buyer and close the case. That's unfair and grossly inapprropiate to say the least.

It means that when you look at a listing the delivery times are from then. NOT from when you made the sale.
The buyer obviously opened a case and didn't bother to wait before closing the case. So they might have been happy with your response, but not happy enough to wait before claiming their free gift.

On the order details page, you can find the estimated delivery dates eBay has shown to the buyer. This date doesn't change - regardless of which date you look at it.

Ebay is refunding my money as they realise they made a mistake by not waiting till the end of the expected delivery date period. Maybe they will look a bit closer next time so this appalling thing doesn't happen again. They later sent another message saying the buyer had the received the item, which they couldn't possibly know. Buyer hasn't contacted me on that score. Whatever. I got my rightful money back. Thanks all for your input.
