Ebay will not pay me or tell me why

Ebay have put an item on hold for almost a month now with no explanation, they refuse to talk to me and for all intents are uncontactable, I was supposed to get an update on 11/11/2023 but they have gone very quiet. Trying to contact an agent is impossible, I have to assume Ebay are up to no good.

How do you mean they have put an 'item' on hold? (as per your comment)

An actual item, or a payment for an item? (as per your heading)

Were you asked by eBay to verify your ID/account recently?

If you believe they are up to no good, you certainly still have a whole heap of items listed
