Exactly what does Paypal require for proof of postage?

I send everything at large letter rate, as my items are so small, so I don't use Click & Send or anything fancy. Larger orders I send registered post, and the PO gives me a register receipt with the registered number sticker on it.

If something doesn't arrive, do I actually have any proof that satisfies Paypal that I've sent the item? I used to think registered post was all I needed, but the receipt and number don't actually have anything on them that shows the recipient's address.

Up until recently, I used to be given a "lodgement receipt" to fill out, but the PO never gives me any paperwork anymore. Should I be asking for it? Would a stamped lodgement receipt satisfy a Paypal claim?

you know the forms you are talking about, you can ask the post office for a bunch of them and fill them out yourself and they will stamp it. What you do is buy a box of the prepaid registered post labels, they are $135.00 for 50 so you do save a few dollars buying them buy the box. Thats the orange ones, and have it all prepared before you go to the post office. They will scan and stamp. Im just letting you know so you dont get done again.

Also get australia post to put something on one of their letterheads to say that you have posted, you still keep your stickers dont you? Just take the sticker number down to them in question. Tell them your predicament and im sure they would be happy to help. Once you have proof take a photo of your evidence from A.P. lodge it with paypal and im pretty sure you should be in the clear as you have proof of posting it. I hope that makes sense to you. 🙂

I also send a lot of large letters, if they are over a certain $ amount I usually send registered. As post above buy a box of labels and ask for 1/2 dozen sheets of the registered lodgement forms and fill them out yourself at home, I do as it saves time. I have had a claim through paypal once and without the lodgement form (I lost mine) you are not covered.

The receipt for posting + registered mail for a large letter shows the tracking number next to the addressee's postcode. Make a note of who that addressee is if your PO doesn'tt get you to fill out a registered mail form with the details on it.

What a shame AustPost don't give automatic tracking numbers to large letters -- instead, we have to pay $3.50 for registered mail to keep THEM from stealing the item we entrust them with.

Hi.

I too plan to sent large letters, I am a little bit confused with the process though as the formatting seemed to have been lost. As I understand it

1. You ask your post office for registered lodgement forms.

2. You go home fill them out and get your letter sealed and ready to post and put your registered post label on it.

3. This is where I start to get a bit confused, what letterhead? and what is it that they would put on it?

4. Does something peel off the sticker that you keep? What you keep doesn’t have the shipping details on it?

From what I can understand it doesn’t sound like what you get back has any proof to what address you sent the letter to. Are we at Australia’s post mercy and hope they will provide additional information to us when we go back rather than get it all when we send it?

Thanks 🙂

At top left of the AP registered lodgement form there is a space to add the Ap article ID sticker. The stickers are in 2 parts, the larger goes on the item to be mailed, the smaller on the receipt, which you should get rubber stamped at your PO counter. both parts of the sticker have numbers. these are the tracking numbers you add into your "ebay sold" page as a reference. Keep the lodgement form as your proof of postage. You fill in buyer name & address yourself before mailing.

Link to the lodgement receipt on Aust Post website so you can print off your own, or just have a peek at what they look like:

I use the lodgement receipt with all my pre-paid articles including express post and pre-paid satchels - I just cross off one of the options and write in the product I am using, complete addressee details etc and attach the tracking number to form.

I have never had a problem having it stamped when I have lodged items at several post offices, and it also saves having to match receipts with postcode only to actual parcels sent.

The completed lodgement receipt with tracking or article number attached provides every thing required to meet paypal requirements when it is date stamped at the post office.

Definitely ask for it, and if they don't give you any, you can print one from a PDF available online. You don't necessarily have to ask for a whole bunch and fill them out at home, but I always have a few on hand as it saves a bit of time at the PO.

The register receipt is nowhere near as good as having the stamped lodgement form showing the address, and there's no reason you shouldn't have that form if you've paid for reg post, so I would be insisting on it, or getting the printed ones stamped.

Does anyone know yet if PayPal/Ebay accept as proof of delivery the automatic (and free) tracking numbers on parcels that came in a few months ago?

I believe not, because APs normal parcels have hand written addresses, and/or are only tracked to a delivery centre.

Paypal require proof of postage to the buyer's address and standard parcels/satchels, as opposed to C&S, don't provide that information.
